What's wrong with Texas?

I’ve listened to a lot of him and he’s good, much better than Beto with politics. If Texas was ever going to have a blue senator, this would be the time. The Dems have a fairly moderate candidate that is also very religious going against a GOP nominee that was impeached for corruption and bribery (he was impeached by a GOP led state house). Paxton is also has just a huge ick factor for women due to his public affair and the fact he gives off a huge swarmy vibe."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I understand a lot of state legislators and leaders in Texas who are republican couldn't stand Paxton.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Yep, the fact he was impeached by a very heavily republican house shows how much he’s hated by the party. Trump stepped in and saved him which is why it was unsurprising when Trump endorsed him.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

Any candidate, like Paxton, who believes Trump was the rightful winner in 2020 would never get my vote. Consider this entry from Wikipedia; That's a tremendous affirmation of the integrity of the election process, yet Trump et al. continue try to undermine faith in the system, the aim of any autocrat.Paxton's office spent more than 22,000 hours looking for voter fraud after the 2020 election, finding only 16 cases of false addresses on registration forms out of nearly 17 million registered voters.
The more I read about Paxton the more amazed I am he's even being considered for any office.

He may not win but I don't think he will be slaughtered. It's not like Paxton is popular in general. I don't think you can extrapolate the runoff result to the general election as it was only an 18% turnout of Republicans. The polls right now are even or have Talarico slightly ahead.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
He discusses some of his past dumb statements here:
Impressive interview overall. Seems like he is becoming a more seasoned politician.
Yeah, I would vote for him over Paxton too. But I predict he will get slaughtered in the general election.

It’s mostly virtue signaling. Most people don’t even wear the masks correctly as to make them effective. I do still see a bunch of people in airports wearing N95 masks, which I find fine given the mass of people and they either don’t want to contract a disease or spread a disease.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostWhat is it with people still masking up these days wherever they go, even if they’re not sick? To be fair, we have affordable housing, good jobs, safe communities, and good education in Texas. We also have lower gas prices and lower overall prices (although they are still to high due to inflation). Paxtons issue in Texas isn’t the policies but more so his corruption. The guy is flat out corrupt. He pays off his friends and hides them from the law. He’s basically doing in Texas what Trump does at the federal level, thus it’s no shocker Trump loves him."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
