Not really any point debating it with you then, is there?

Ummm ... how about if they don't, they can be held in contempt and thrown in jail?

Hmm. Is that what you were doing? I'm open to debate.

That is actually very interesting (for lawnerds). I didn't know that the 10th was transparent on reassigns. Good for them.

Having admitting my biases, I found Lynn Wardle's argument pretty weak and unconvincing. In fact, it seemed a little embarrassing that he kept referring to 'judicial activism', 'radical adjenda', 'Obama appointee', etc., like he couldn't argue on the merits of the judgement. But again, I'm no lawyer:

Lynn Wardle has been the church's main academician lawyer on same-sex marriage. He is about as biased on this issue as they come.

Perhaps the president will need to send the National Guard into Utah to force the counties to follow the federal judge's order to stop discrimination. I would be fine with that.

And that's what would have to happen. And it wouldn't. Let a set of more sober judges decide this thing before we throw everything out the window. Performing the marriages is the radical action here.

Jacob is owning this thread. Great use of "insane" and "radical" to describe an issue that will not even be debated by the eventual nominees in the coming presidential election.

This is a big deal for Jacob. He is taking the exact same stance and using the same arguments my gay brother in law uses. My BIL is gay but is very discreet about it, he doesn't hide it but he certainly doesn't parade it around. The majority of his co-workers and I would guess most extended family have no idea.

His partner however is very open and screams it from the rooftops. My brother in law is concerned if this passes his partner will want to get married and make the entire thing in to some sort of spectacle.

My BIL is more opposed to gay marriage than anyone I know.

Ha. Sorry, but that is kind of funny.

Agreed. This is the most substantive argument against gay marriage I have heard: "I don't want to have to get married."
