No reports of injuries yet, but it's early. Not good.

Looks like the tail came off on landing...

Looking at footage of the area, it would appear that they came up just short of the runway. You can see a trail of debris from the rock dyke all along the runway tracing their path. You can see where the tail came off.

That picture shows many survivors, but wow!

The crash occurred just as we were dropping off our daughter for a flight to JFK. We learned about it only after we got home (45 minutes away) when she called to say her flight had been cancelled because of "the incident." So now she's on BART back to our house and we'll take her to San Jose for a flight to NYC. Instead of getting home at 9 this evening, she'll get there around 6 tomorrow morning.

I remember a somewhat similar incident from the '60s when a JAL flight landed a few hundred yards short of the runway in the SF Bay. I don't think there were any fatalities then, as there apparently are now.

Is there any footage of the crash happening? All I've seen is video and photos of the after-effects.

That is really incredible. There isn't much that goes unfilmed these days in cities.

KTVU in San Francisco might be in a bit of trouble:

Oh man. Can't stop laughing. I can't believe nobody caught that.

They said they reaired the exact segment on the 10pm news as well. Unbelievable.

A real LOL. Amazing nobody caught that. I'd love to hear the conversation at KTVU and how "the NTSB has confirmed that..." I suspect the local unemployment rolls may rise a bit this afternoon.

Two people died in the tragic accident. Sorry, guys. Don't think it's funny.

Holy cow that's funny. My older brother used to play tennis with an Asian kid who had one of those ultimate mainstream American names (this kid was named Daniel). My dad would say every time he came home, " How's Won Hung Lo doing?" I didn't get the joke when I was 10. Around that same time, my friend that lived near me had a sizeable pond in his front yard. His mother got an injured beaver from some animal rescue and put it in their pond. The beaver was around for six months and then returned to the wild. I told my dad about the beaver and I got questions and warnings about "Joey's mom's beaver" for the next four years. "If she asks you to pet her beaver, make sure you tell her no."
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                            Agree.
