  • Penn St. 2.0?

I am not sure Chris Hill keeps his job if these allegations are true.

Far too many athletes and parents on the record both with the school and the article for it all to be fabricated or just a case if sour grapes.

Winslow sounds like a real piece of scum. Sounds like a lot of this has been documented with multiple witnesses to everything. There's no place for psychological or physical abuse in any setting and it sounds like Winslow did that and Hill allowed it despite being warned more than several times. It's not Penn St sized abuse, but its certainly bad enough that if true, Hill should be fired.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I agree. Even if only 25% of it is verified. My guess is that a substantial portion of it is correct.

I read an article in the local paper about this a week or two ago. Looks like it is going national (with quite a bit more detail).

I am going to reserve judgment until LA Ute weighs in.

Winslow looks like a big fat meanie but Penn St? Probably closer to Tejas Tech 2.0. Especially these complaints:
kicking swimmers off the team without a detailed explanation
(If there is something to the accusation of sexually abusing a 14-yr-old, then maybe the comparison to Penn St. is more apt.)

It is definitely not on the same level as Penn State. But sexual absue of a 14 yr old, swimmers blacking out, buying alcohol for minors, relationships with student athletes that is all much more serious than locking a kid in a storage shed. The fact that Chris Hill seemed to know about it makes it even worse and is very similar to the higher ups at Penn St.

Looks very ugly, and to me it seems very out of character for Hill to ignore such stuff. I am sure this will be investigated and I hope justice is done, whatever that is. The swim coach looks like quite a piece of work. I feel horrible for the athletes.

Before the team received its equipment, Hewson said, a teammate, Major Robinson, brought a blue kickboard to the pool and Winslow became upset because blue was a BYU color. She said the coach threw a metal chair into the pool and ordered Robinson to do laps while keeping the chair out of the water.
                      lol.

There's more than something to the accusation -- there's a recorded phone call in which he admits the abuse. The victim apparently attempted suicide last year.

In fairness, I think I read yesterday that the relationship with the young woman took place several years ago, in Arizona, prior to the coach taking the job at Utah. Still, guys like that are usually serial offenders.

This is the girl who he its accused if abusing in Arizona. She then followed him to Utah. She transferred out after two seasons.

Comparing this to Penn State is disgusting. You are better than that.

I'm ashamed to be a Ute fan if this is true. Time for hill to be done.
