What is wrong with California?

Still locked down. No movies, no schools, no sports. Also...restaurants are all takeout.

School starts next week for my youngest, then others start in two and three weeks. I have eaten out about the same amount of times that I normally eat out in the past six months-zero. So all good here.

I received my absentee ballot from California recently. I didn't ask for one and I haven't lived there for more than two years. A few months back I called the number on some other voter mail that I had received and spent about half an hour trying to get off of their records, but I couldn't. Somebody had me down as a resident of California currently receiving my mail in Idaho. They couldn't tell me how to get off of the voter rolls.

I could commit voter fraud if I wanted to, but of course, I wouldn't do that. However, this is more evidence for the claims Trump is making about the potential for voter fraud, and it bothers me.

I'm just curious how long they'll keep me on their rolls.

Just fill it out and drop it off in one of the unofficial drop boxes... It's all good. PAC says that mail-in voting is safe.

Yes, there has been unprecedented fraud, waste and abuse of the state’s unemployment benefits during COVID. It hardly gets a mention in the local news, and people don’t seem to be too bothered by it (except for those who have been waiting months for their valid benefit claims to be processed).

Vice President Kamala Harris has performed so poorly that even her home state thinks she has been terrible.

A poll from the University of California, Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and the Los Angeles Times puts Harris’s approval in her home state of California at just 35%, with 45% disapproving. Harris has dropped slightly from her already awful 38% approval just two months ago. For comparison, GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has 28% approval in the Democratic-dominated state. Harris is barely more popular than a Republican in California.

What’s more, Harris is floundering in the Bay Area, where she started her political career and served as the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris’s approval in the Bay Area is just 38%, well below House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s 52% approval.
