Clinton got impeached and he could still pass budgets and bipartisan legislation. Now everyone just picks on poor ol' centrist Obama.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I said a significant portion of them add no value. There are many departments which add no value to the public, there are others that provide negative value. Once you accept that, it's plain to see that employees of those departments add no value. If you don't accept that, then we could discuss why. It's nothing against the individual employees. They work for a poorly organized beuracracy.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostOn what basis do you make the claim that they add no value?

This is exactly why I'm concerned about the debt ceiling debate:

Much of the debate involves parties who are not rational actors.

Maybe his boardname is all Japanese, not a mix of English and Nihongo. So it's really 今日本人, with 'ima' meaning 'at this moment'. So maybe he's got Japanese citizenship for now, but is may consider changing his citizenship to some other country. You could also interpret it as expressing his ethnicity, but since that would be hard to change, 'at this moment' would be redundant. We won't go into the typical missionary humor to discuss how many legs he has (一本、ニ本).Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostI took Japanese 101 at BYU, so I am probably the most qualified person here to explain this.
IMANIHONJIN = IM-A-NIHON-JIN
IM = I'M (I am)
A = A (Determiner, from Old English word meaning "one")
NIHON = Japanese (Romanized) for Japan (日本, with 日 meaning "Sun" or "Day" and 本 meaning "Origin" or "Half", so, Land of the Rising Sun)
JIN = Japanese for "Person" (人). When attached to "Nihon", means, Person Of or Person From Japan

The President's golfing must be essential:
http://www.thelibertypaper.org/2013/...s-golf-course/Anyone who can’t see that the shutdown is little more than theater simply isn’t paying attention. If the above examples aren’t enough for you then look no further than to President Obama’s favorite golf course, which remains open. President Obama frequents Andrew’s Air Force Base Golf Course, which boasts three 18-hole courses. It is located on prime Washington D.C. property.
According to the PGA the US government spends an average of $384,000 – $1,000,000 per year on every golf course it owns. The federal government operates some 234 golf courses around the world. Combined, that’s a total of about $140 million per year on golf courses.
The course remains open. Officials cite that the course receives payments from private individuals on snacks and course fees, but it is clear that the courses still run on tax payer dollars. Many federal golf courses are also national parks, such as Yosemite National Park Golf Course.
How is that any different than the privately owned Mt. Vernon, or the WWII memorial, which has zero staff or operational costs. How is it different than the privately funded Air Force, Navy athletics departments? Why block people from taking pictures of a rock more than a mile away from the actual entrance?
Edit: Other places the federal government doesn't even own...
Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...#ixzz2gwmqL03bThe Park Service appears to be closing streets on mere whim and caprice. The rangers even closed the parking lot at Mount Vernon, where the plantation home of George Washington is a favorite tourist destination. That was after they barred the new World War II Memorial on the Mall to veterans of World War II. But the government does not own Mount Vernon; it is privately owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. The ladies bought it years ago to preserve it as a national memorial. The feds closed access to the parking lots this week, even though the lots are jointly owned with the Mount Vernon ladies. The rangers are from the government, and they’re only here to help.
“It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”Last edited by Uncle Ted; 10-06-2013, 06:14 AM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Shame on you President Obama, shame on you.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

今朝アメリカ人, 今日本人, 今晩知らんわ.
That would make sense, particularly if he was born in the U.S. of Japanese parents.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

This is very odd, Moliere.

its not possible unless the president decides that is what he is going to do. We are still taking in $250b a month in revenue. He is just going to have to budget that. If he funds all his programs and doesn't pay the bills, we default. Probably is a possibility with the presidents reckless track record.Originally posted by calicoug View PostThis is very odd, Moliere.

There is no chance all available funds are redirected to pay bonds. Computer and paper systems aren't configured for that and we don't have people to do it manually. And it isn't like the effect on the test of the economy would be zero even if we could. You are loving in a fantasy world if you think what you suggested is at all realistic.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View Postits not possible unless the president decides that is what he is going to do.
