Even bad guys are nice guys most of the time. Hatch is quite clearly the kind of guy who will say whatever it takes to get re-elected. Some people might consider that kind of politician a bad guy. Even if he is a pretty nice guy.Originally posted by Shaka View PostI think he deserves to get voted out but that's not the same thing as calling him a bad guy. Moss wasn't bad either.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/...es_764666.htmlHarry Reid: 'Everybody ... Willing to Pay More' Taxes
Senate majority leader Harry Reid says that "Everybody" is "willing to pay more" taxes. He said so in an interview with a Nevada Public Radio host.
“The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress,” Reid told the radio host, according to Roll Call. “Everybody else, including the rich people, are willing to pay more. They want to pay more.”

Would someone please give the following weblink to Reid so he, and anyone else that wants to, can pay more taxes?

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a...following.htmlThe Next Ted Cruz: Meet three Republicans who want to be just like the junior senator from Texas.
[...]
Any Republican donor who thought that the shutdown would “break the fever” of the Tea Party, or that it would prove the pesky base wrong about its strategy, clearly didn’t know enough conservatives. “People started paying attention to Obamacare again” because of the shutdown, according to McDaniel. The immediate political legacy of the #StandWithCruz moment is a surge of primary challenges, mostly in states or districts that Democrats won’t even try to win. The goal: replace the graybeard Republicans who “caved” with Cruz/Lee doppelgangers who won’t.
Conservatives have boasted about this goal with all the secrecy and humility of Kanye West explaining his lyrics. In 2011, while he was just a candidate for Senate, Ted Cruz told the New York Times that it would “fundamentally shift the character of the Senate” if “the five or six strong conservatives elected to the Senate in 2012 became 10 or 12.” This week, after he returned to Texas, Cruz blamed the Republicans who had opposed the defund fight for whatever damage had happened to “the Republican brand.”

These three republicans didn't graduate from Harvard Law and, therefore, have zero chance of being the next Ted Cruz. Obama, on the other hand,..."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Utah should do the rest of the USA a favor and replace Mike Lee with a serious person in the Senate. I know it will be a Republican, but can't it be someone with some ideas?“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Certainly nothing illegal about taking money from shady companies and then pushing through legislation to benefit them. Kind of like taking money from the tobacco or porn industries I suppose.Originally posted by Shaka View PostLet's put it this way. I know the family very well. Orrin is a good guy and so Scott. Both have to play in the mud hole that is politics which could give a tarnished appearance to almost anyone. At their core they are both honest and ethical men.
Believe me, he was way better than the wackos running against him last time. He may be a goofball (Orrin Hatch music CDs anyone?) and a little slimy, but he is not an ideological nutjob. I guess those SOB "Republicans in the Congress" are also French soccer players...
http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp...0-467efaea0552French clubs plan 'historic' strike over 75% tax plan
French football clubs will go out on strike for the first time in more than 40 years next month in protest at government plans to tax top earners 75 percent, the clubs announced on Thursday.
The first lockdown in the professional French game since 1972 is scheduled for the last weekend of November after a unanimous vote against Socialist President Francois Hollande's controversial supertax initiative.
The president of the French professional clubs union (UCPF), Jean-Pierre Louvel, said: "We are involved in a historic protest and have a real determination to save football by having a weekend without games at the end of November."
Clubs in France's first and second division -- Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 -- were "confirming their firm opposition to the 75 percent tax proposal" on annual incomes over one million euros ($1.3 million) by staging a walk-out between November 29 and December 2, he added.
Under the proposals, companies rather than players would be liable to pay the high tax rate on the part of their employees' salaries that exceed one million euros.

There's also a residency issue, but you can deal with that. Hey, Orrin Hatch was a Utah resident for only 7 years before he ran.Originally posted by All-American View PostSorry, I'm not old enough. Not yet.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Mike Lee doesn't have ideas? Someone isn't paying attention. How many senate republicans have come out with new tax reform plans this year besides Mike Lee? And his plan was lauded by most republican wonks (not referring to pundits, though lost of them liked it too).Originally posted by LA Ute View PostUtah should do the rest of the USA a favor and replace Mike Lee with a serious person in the Senate. One of the talking points for the dems and their allies the MSM, is that Medicare Part D got off to a rocky start, but because the dems and republicans worked together to fix it, it is now a very popular program. Indication of course is if the repubs would work with the dems, Obamacare could be fixed and become very popular.
One of President Obama's campaign agenda's was to shut down the "donuthole", but we all know he flip flops constantly.
One thing the press of course doesn't report is that Medicare Part D was debated for 6 months. When it passed it had both republican and democrat support. Obamacare was rammed through by the dems and the dems alone. You really expect the republicans to now do everything they can to help the dems? LOL

Mike Lee does have ideas but he isn't a Harvard Law grad. Therefore, he is no Ted Cruz. No wonder Utahns don't like him.Originally posted by Jacob View PostMike Lee doesn't have ideas? Sort of. Probably more accurate to say its where the capitol building is and where the legislature meets. But the capital of Texas is found throughout the state where the people worry more about working hard than they do about keeping themselves weird.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostIt's the capital of Texas, dammit!PLesa excuse the tpyos.
