  • Just a little update on my post from last night regarding my daughter's civic assignment.

I found this chart on some Christian mom blog that seems to be where the teacher got her chart. What concerns me further, is that the chart is not identical and has definitely been modified and added to. Now whether or not that additional commentary was provided by the teacher or the teacher inherited the chart from another source as is, can't be determined.

        • HArd to believe Trump would be that stupid.

OKay, it isn't hard to believe that about him.

OTOH, the question she answered was whether she and Tom supported Trump. If Tom does and she doesn't then the correct answer is No. But I guess it is sort of nitpicky to read the actual question and so forth. sorry.
          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

My guess is becasue the off hours helps laborers and hourly workers get to the polls and due to the Latino surge in NV Trump is likely going to lose there, so he assumes most of those in line will be part of this surge and he wants to keep as many of them away as possible.

The last day of early voting was Friday. Because of this, all the lines were extra long. This particular location, had a huge turn out of Hispanics and had to stay open an extra three hours to accommodate everyone. The Nevada GOP and Trump campaign have complained that they must have been letting large amounts of people in line after the closing time. That wasn't the case.

That's ok. Trump will just file this under the category of if you repeat it enough times it becomes true.

                  • It is a tragic irony that the American right, a group that fancies itself finely attuned to media bias, has been so easily manipulated by the political press.

2016 was the year the left played conservatives like fiddles. Leaked emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s account make it plain that liberals feared the GOP’s more conventional presidential candidates and were eager to face Donald Trump in a general election. A thorough insider account of Clinton’s operation documents each time her team sighed with relief as one Republican threat after another fell to Trump. Even after the celebrity candidate became the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, Clinton’s orbit backup plans ready if the RNC refused to allow such a clear risk to its institutional integrity to take the reins. Team Clinton’s fear that the American right would at some point pull back from the brink was unfounded...

The right’s unhealthy focus on media has become all-consuming. It blots out the sun. It means long-term strategic political thinking takes a backseat to gaming out fleeting and banal news cycles. Identifying and stewing over media bias have become a Republican pastime and, like any addiction, deadly if unchecked.

A healthy skepticism of mainstream reporting that once guided conservatives in an advantageous way has transformed into an all-consuming sense of victimization by the press.

There once was a real need for Drudge and others to widen the journalism field. But it is time for the GOP to narrow it again and break its obsession about media bias. Although there has been a proliferation of extreme partisan reporting on both sides, the democrats are nowhere near as controlled by it as the republicans are. The GOP can become a serious party again when it accepts these 2 facts: yes, there is a liberal bias in journalism, and no, it is not a conspiracy against America.

Oh blah blah blah. Stop trying to convert us to Hillary. Those of us Republicans with souls have already written normal people in. And you need to clean your own house before you continue your lectures, Mr. NE Patriot.

And just in case this isn't understood:

                            • Voters heading to the polls Tuesday are twice as likely to say they want a president who is a “strong leader” than in 2012, according to Morning Consult/POLITICO exit data.

More than one-third (36 percent) of 2016 voters said being a strong leader was the most important quality when picking a president, compared with 18 percent of voters who said the same during 2012 election. It’s an opinion held regardless of partisan leanings: 35 percent of Democrats, 34 percent of independents and 39 percent of Republicans said that was most important.

                              • Its a shame there is not a strong leader on the ballot.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.
