But if Trump truly has had a loss that big and has not been able to get back in the black in the ensuing 18 years, that would mean this whole "successful businessman with a Midas touch" narrative has been a complete charade. I guess my point is that the media doesn't need to make up crap to convince people that Trump isn't a great business man. There's plenty of examples showing this. Sure, he's rich, but probably not as rich as he claims. But why make up crap to try to convince people of that? Maybe they don't care that people that actually deal with financial reports and taxes, which is a small subsection of the population, would read this article and roll their eyes about as far back as humanly possible. This latest tax news is unsurprising, although it's yet another reason why Trump won't release his recent returns. Clearly the audit, even if there is one, isn't the reason since he said he'd release his returns if Hillary released the emails.
Trump is the greatest self-promoter in memory. If he believed the returns would help him (e.g., by showing how successful or generous he is), he'd release them toot suite. But he won't, leaving us to wonder forever how bad they really are.
And btw, perhaps the biggest reason he'll never release them is that hundreds, maybe thousands, of tax professionals (not to mention hordes of investigative journalists) would scour them, focusing on every detail (IRS audits typically zero in on one or a few specifics), which for returns in the last four years could create a huge tax hit for him.Comment

I'm sure his tax guys are very good (Donald hires only the very best, or so we're told). But on arcane tax matters, among even the very best there will arise different opinions as to the proper tax treatment. I would expect Trump to have taken the most aggressive tax position on any matter, and that's where the audits will focus. Depending on how aggressive/creative Trump's guys were, given the hundreds of millions Trump apparently deals with, there will be a wide range of possible outcomes, and I'd bet none of them would be better for Trump than the one he chose to follow.Originally posted by Moliere View PostComment

Not quite as demonstrative as Arnold's kid with the maid, but there is a slight resemblance. Of course, the article also mentions that there was a DNA test done back in 1999 that the kid wasn't Bill's. I like the part of the story where Bill is jogging along in 1984 and sees a prostitute hanging out by a public housing project. The governor then gives her $200 to have sex right on the spot behind the bushes.
The part about Bill being her only client at the time is also very believable.
