  • Check out the graph that follows the chart showing the polls. Trump's current fall started about July 28th. What day was that? It was the day after that fallen Muslim-American soldier's dad spoke at the democratic national convention and Trump blasted him on twitter. He hasn't recovered yet.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

        • As Clinton is pandering to Utah voters this is what Trump is saying to Evangelical ministers.

          • If Hillary said she disagreed with the LGBTQ letters and she supported BYU inclusion into the Big12 I'd vote for her. End of story. She'd have my trust and love.

I guess you can deride and every major group in America, except the veterans. At least we draw the line there.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Well, that's certainly the first group I'd turn to if I wanted to know how to talk to mormons. I look forward to Trump's op-ed on how mormons aren't really Americans, I mean Christians. Should be great entertainment. SU, after this fails miserably I think you'll have a job opportunity here. I heard he pays well.

                • Good Lord- can a person project more contempt for a place? After going to slc and trying to suck up by slamming Mitt ("are we sure the guy's really a Mormon? AMIRITE GUYS??") He wonders why he's not doing better there. He really is stuck b/c he REALLY wants to give both barrels to Utah as a place he perceives as slighting him, but he knows that if he loses Utah to a Democrat there will be no living down his place as the Worst GOP Nominee of All-Time.

I'm just sad that we'll probably hear from the left that the reason she won by so much is because she is so popular, so much more qualified, and such a great candidate. Instead of hearing the truth: that the two parties decided to see who could come up with the worst candidate, and the Republicans won. In a landslide.
You won't hear that from me. I think it's a shame that the democrats kept everyone but an outsider socialist from opposing Hillary in the primary. She's not very likable. If she wins it's because the GOP picked the worst candidate of any of our lifetimes.

He'll talk shit on Mormons the minute it doesn't look like he has support.

                        • Does anyone remember when some gentile knew who Paul was but he told her not to testify of Jesus wrong source lady that is. Dnews is doing oped from all candidates, libertarian no one pays attention too, and did one on former first bitch Hiolary Clinton. She quoted Rosemary Wixon, and every prophet from Joseph Smith to. Thmas Monson. Can we tell. Her the same thing Oaul told that lady who had. False spirit.

                          • Maybe Trump will borrow that "former first bitch" line for the debate.

                            I liked what Hillary wrote.

I found it refreshing to read something eloquent and respectful from one of the candidates after Trump dominating the last dozen news cycles or so with horrible things he said in front of a television camera and microphone.

                              • In case you haven't heard of it, the "alt-right" is the movement Donald Trump is tapping into because he either believes in it (who knows) or thinks he can use its adherents for his own political gain. The biggest concern I have with Trump isn't just about how bad a president I fear he may be. It's really that his takeover of one of our major political parties is a vehicle for mainstreaming a truly frightening philosophy. Trump has clearly studied it, as he's been able to get their attention by speaking their language in his speeches. He's promoted some of their ideas and used some of their terminology as a dog whistle. Most of his supporters have no idea he's doing that but the alt-right nuts love it because he's taking their shit into mainstream society.

"There is, lurking in Reddit and 4chan threads and in community blogs and forums, a movement of right-wingers who openly argue that democracy is a joke. That it's weak, it's corrupt, and it caters to the whims of a fickle electorate rather than the needs of the citizenry. That Congress and the president must be replaced with a CEO-like figure to run the country as it truly should be, without the confused input of the masses.

For some in the movement, Donald Trump is that figure. For the hardcore, even the most authoritarian-styled presidential candidate in decades isn't good enough.

Thus, within the world of neoreaction, Trump's seemingly authoritarian impulses are a feature, not a bug. The only real problem is he may not go far enough.

NRxer Michael Perilloux, for example, complained that Trump wouldn't pull off the kind of power grab that many of his critics fear him capable of:

Is Trump likely to cancel the constitution, declare martial law, declare himself emperor to be succeeded by his children, nationalize the banks and media, hang some of the worst criminal bankers, send the Israelis back to Israel, call the National Guard to roll tanks into Harvard Yard,...Short of that, he is simply another phenomenon within the arcane workings of the system...Surely, the unprecedented nature of his campaign warrants excited interest as a historical case-study and promising fore-shock of a true restoration, but he is not the king, and we have a ways to go yet."

What I fear most is that this is just the beginning of mainstreaming the idea to a lot of Americans that we should trash our Constitution, forever throw the concept of individual rights into the toilet and give in to totalitarianism. Hillary isn't the answer, but I can wake up the day after she wins and still feel like I live in a free country, as many problems as we still have. Trump wins and I'd be in serious doubt of that.

Trump not only needs to lose, he needs to lose in a hugely embarrassing way. Fortunately it finally looks like things are starting to turn that way now. Unfortunately the GOP was so inexplicably idiotic it allowed it to get to this point. With all the flaws Hillary has we actually had a really good chance at having a decent president. Tragedy.
