Fine, lets assume it wasn't a lie for a moment. Please explain why the administration publicly held fast to the notion that the attack was the result of a spontaneous reaction to a video, while privately stating that the attack was an attack by an al Qaeda or al Qaeda like group.

    • Does someone on here who thinks Bernie is a good "honest" guy want to tell me how the economy is "rigged". I actually googled the word to make sure I knew the exact meaning. Basically an unfair advantage.

Still the meaning dependes on what fair and unfair mean. That is a tough one and it depends. It is an individual thing. Sometimes it is easy to spot, most of the time not.

For instance, is it unfair that the Golden State Warriors have curry. Is the advantage unfair. How do you right this rigged situation.

Is Hollywood rigged? Is it unfair a knock out good looking person will have an advantage. How do you right this rigged situation.

We could go on and on.

So how about Gates, Jobs, Buffet, the Waltons, the Kochs. What was rigged so they had so much success? How many thousands of jobs have these people created and what awesome changes have they brought about? As they were doing better and better, was the fair thing to grab some guy off the street and make them trade places. The fellow on the street could run the country?

If he was honest he would just talk about taking away from those who he thinks have too much and giving it to those who he thinks have to little. This thing about rigged and the billionaires run the country is horsecrap and he is either very dishones or pretty naive.

Because kids coming out of college with finance and engineering degrees have better prospects than those with American Lit degrees. It's rigged.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Don't you think the American taxpayer ought to pick up the bill for that shitty American Lit degree, though?

          • I have no idea how much weight to place on the Benghazi scandal. It could be as bad as it's been hyped up to be. Or it could just be a political blunder that unfortunately led to lives lost. I do think Fox News and allies have Hillary on the brain, however. It seems like they cannot let any potential Clinton scandal go to waste. Which makes it easier for me to believe it is not as bad as they are continually making it out to be.

The question of whether it was incited by a video or whether it was a pre-planned terror attack made no difference in terms of the lives lost. There simply were very few options for getting help there rapidly.

And if you believe it was a calculated lie (difficult to imagine given the rapid time frame and the fact that the video had cause riots elsewhere), you have to believe that they made the lie most likely knowing full well that the truth would come out eventually.

In terms of weight, I would put this one at about 1/1000 relative to the e-mail scandal.

since the administration had continued saying it was about the video, after internally knowing it was a terrorist act, shows it was a calculated lie

This is what the conspiracy theorists point to - and to be honest it does make me think.

If they knew the truth would come out. And it really isn't a big deal what the cause was, the important point is that American lives were lost - then what are they trying to hide by lying? Why lie in the first place? People don't lie unless there is something to gain. So what did they think they were gaining due to the lie?

And that is where the distrust comes from. Was this simply about some minute political advantage in an election year? Or was there something more?

I believe that this was about political advantage for the election. And that there isn't much more to it than that. But I also believe that it is one more example of a reason that Hillary is difficult to trust. Because if she is willing to lie to hide the little things...what is she willing to do to hide the big things?

The theory I have heard most is that President Obama and his campaign team did not want it to look like his claim terrorists have been contained was wrong. They needed time for the press to figure out a way to kill the story. They did. Remember Candy Crowley and the debate when she shut down Mitt. I would probably been OK for Mitt to have gone Trump on Candy at that moment Dishonest Press!!!

Again you fail to address the issue regarding why the Obama administration publicly declared it to be about the video but privately stated it was an organized attack.

                        No it doesn't.

What difference does it make in the end? After reading the detailed minute-by-minute account, I fail to see why that particular aspect of the event is such a big deal.

Then why lie about it? Seriously, why?

Also, by lying about it, the administration made it political. Again, you reap what you sow.

What part wasn't a "calculated lie"? Not the part about it being a spontaneous protest, right?

The Night of the Benghazi Attacks

On the night of the Benghazi attacks, Clinton emailed her daughter Chelsea, writing "Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Queda-like group: The Ambassador, whom I handpicked and a young communications officer on temporary duty w a wife and two young children. Very hard day and I fear more of the same tomorrow."

Clinton's foes seized on the secretary's attribution of the attack to an Al Qaeda group rather than to a spontaneous protest, as the Obama administration later described it.

The emails also revealed Chelsea's response to the attacks. In a message to her mother, the younger Clinton drew a parallel between the Benghazi violence and the September 11 attacks. "I am so sorry about the State Department officer killed in Libya and the ongoing precariousness in Egypt and Libya. Such anathema to us as Americans - and a painful reminder or how long it took modernism to take root in the US, after the Enlightenment, the 14th, 15th, 16th 19th amendments, removal of censorship norms and laws, etc. Heading to bed to read. A strange day here. Another bright blue beautiful chilly September 11th."

so if the administration says it was because of a video, when they know it wasnt, it isnt a lie?
