    • Russia challenges US to prove campaign hacking claims or shut up

The United States must either stop accusing Russia of meddling in its elections or prove it, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was "indecent" of the United States to "groundlessly" accuse Russia of intervention in the US election campaign, Russian state news agency Tass reported.
"They should either stop talking about that or produce some proof at last. Otherwise it all begins to look unseemly," Peskov reportedly said about the latest accusations that Russia was responsible for hacker attacks.

This is exactly the problem with how Obama has handled it. He makes a big deal about it. Russians tell him to piss off and even if we retaliate we will do it quietly and so no matter what it makes us look ineffectual. Putin is surely laughing at the keystone cop approach. Maybe people are right. Maybe trump won't be any worse.
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Maybe I don't understand the role of the FBI and the reach of their authority.

But is Podesta really suggesting that the FBI go to Russia and find the people who hacked him, and then do something about it? I mean - what else COULD they do?

Seriously, I'm having a hard time imagining exactly WHAT the FBI is supposed to do in this case. In the Hillary situation, they were trying to determine whether or not Hillary violated any US laws. I'm not sure what the FBI could even do in the case of a foreign hacker hacking stuff from the other side of the world. I mean, aside from warn the DNC.

After the DNC hacking was discovered the FBI did warn the RNC. It was too late for the DNC.

President Obama should have done more. For example, he could have had the CIA do a drone strike on these russian bastards. And if there was a hospital in the way then that would be their problem.

Or maybe Obama could have told the DNC/Clinton campaign to stop saying stupid things in unencrypted gmail accounts. You would think of all people Clinton would take the time to learn some basics about email security after that little problem she had with the private server thing.

                    • The dems want some answers...

Democratic donors call for Clinton campaign post-mortem

When Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine greet the very top fundraisers and donors to their failed campaign at New York’s Plaza Hotel on Thursday evening, many of them will have one question in mind: Where’s the autopsy?

The call for a deep and detailed accounting of how Clinton lost a race that she and her donors were absolutely certain she’d win didn’t begin immediately after the election — there was too much shock over her defeat by Donald Trump, and overwhelming grief. Her initial conference call with top backers, which came just days after the outcome, focused primarily on FBI Director Jim Comey’s late campaign-season intervention.

But in the weeks since, the wealthy Democrats who helped pump over $1 billion into Clinton’s losing effort have been urging their local finance staffers, state party officials, and campaign aides to provide a more thorough explanation of what went wrong. With no dispassionate, centralized analysis of how Clinton failed so spectacularly, they insist, how can they be expected to keep contributing to the party?

“A lot of the bundlers and donors still are in shock and disbelief by what happened. They’re looking for some introspection and analysis about what really happened, what worked and what didn’t,” said Ken Martin, chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and a top campaign bundler himself. "It may take some time to do that, but people are still just scratching their heads."

Or, in the words of a Midwestern fundraiser who’s kept in touch with fellow donors, “A lot of people are saying, ‘I’m not putting another fucking dime in until someone tells me what just happened.’”

Silly dems are starting to sound like conservatives wanting to hold people accountable for spending theirs and other people's money.

I want the Dems to keeping blaming those Russkies and the basket of deplorables. Keep telling the voters they just a bunch of dumb morons and they need the Harvard elites to save them from themselves. That's a winning strategy.

I thought you were a Libertarian? All your posts and memes have to do with the party that is about to be completely out of ruling power. There are a lot more republicans here too...

Yes, I am a Libertarian. I will most likely be bitching more about the republicans this time next year.

Frank doesn't quite understand priorities. When Democrats are explaining to the public that there are "sufficient reasons to blow up the system" you kind of have to address that first.
