Don't come in acting like you've been a student of this thread's posts.
I'm a student, I have studied. Yes, you got this one right. Once. In the past 6 months however I haven't heard that prediction as much, if at all. I like my prophets loud and proud. #loudandproudprophets

I highly doubt this. Trump pulled the kind of people that hated and resented Romney.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        • A coworker of mine -- young, college educated, born in the US but totally American in culture except for coming from a Lebanese family has already told me she was harassed last night by a stupid redneck racist who told her she should get ready to get kicked out out of the country. Her offense was being overheard speaking in Arabic with some friends. Trump has totally pulled these wackos out of the woodwork by making them feel it's cool to be an open racist again.

I agree that Romney would have won. He out gained Trump by 1.5 million votes. Hillary lost about 5 million votes from 2012. This wasn't a trump movement as much as it was a statement that Hillary didn't excite the Democracts.

This gets fixed if the rest of us smack it down when we see it.

                • Utah should be more embarrassed 0f the 27.5% of electorate who voted for Mike Lee's opponent. Seriously, a thirty year-old with a high school education and no political experience and 12 years of bagging groceries.

They did a poll a couple of days ago looking at the last elections candidates compared to the candidates of this election.

Obama beats Trump by 12%. Romney beats Hillary by 10%.

Sure - I get that the polls all had Hillary leading against Trump too. But I'm kind of buying that a guy with as little baggage as Romney could curb stomp Hillary.

Heck - Romney lost the election even though more people voted for him than voted for Trump. This was about Hillary not exciting anyone. If she had the kind of turnout that Obama did, she would be president. No one was buying the "vote for her to continue my legacy" Obama was selling.

                    • One of my non-LDS social work liberal co-workers was in tears today talking about her kids attending school in Draper.

Yesterday her 9 year-old daughter was getting all kinds of bullied, because she's the girl who's mom voted for Hillary. The girl feels like the whole 4th grade hates her and didn't want to go to school today.

Her son basically said "well you don't tell people stuff like that at school. No way. Of course they're going to act that way."

I'm sad for her. I know kids are dumb and find dumb things to bully over. Hopefully this is quickly forgotten and passes by. I mean, I don't remember which kids told me they would vote for Carter when I was in 3rd grade. I remember being dumbfounded at their revelation. But I don't remember who they are.

This is the kind of crap that needs to stop. We've got to figure out how we can have differing opinions without viewing those differing opinions as an affront. Time to start teaching kids that differing opinions are OK. And fighting for your position is OK. And you don't have to demonize the other guy in order to push your side.

                        • Lots of people whining on FB about the mormon letdown and the hypocrisy of utah mormon voters. However...

                          http://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpete...on-voters.html

Yesterday, Trump won Utah with only 46% of those who cast ballots, with a total of 375k votes, Clinton came out with 27.8% with 222k, and McMullin picked up 163k votes and 20%, and Johnson got 3% of the vote and nearly 26k votes.

And although Trump won 46% of the vote, I want to highlight that only 26% of active, registered voters in Utah voted for Trump, compared to Romney, who got 52% of the total vote. Trump only got 55% of the *Republican* vote, compared to Romney, who got pretty much all of the Republican vote and then some. Clinton got 222k votes in a state with only 160k registered Democrats, and McMullin got 163k as an Independent. Voter turnout was down by about 207k, or 14% of total registered, active voters, but Clinton still got nearly as many total votes as Obama in 2008, and she got nearly 28% compared to Obama’s 24%.

What I’m saying is, even though Trump won Utah, it was *not* because Mormons secretly embraced him, and on a massive scale. 74% of active, registered voters in Utah did not vote for him.

A great example of looking behind the numbers.

I just realized that the Angel Moroni blowing his horn looks suspiciously like SU in a bathrobe, getting ready to submit a post about BYU or the Church.

Returning to the topic at hand, has Trump walked back his 2012 tweets, which he sent when it looked like Obama was going to lose the popular vote but win the electoral college? I recall the tweets called the electoral college a sham, a travesty, a disaster for democracy, etc., and that a revolution was needed to eliminate the college. I assume he has remained true to his beliefs.

Edit: I went back and found some of them, including "Let's fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us," and "The phoney electoral college made a laughingstock out of our nation. The loser one [sic]!"

Say what you will, but he was prescient.

PAC archives Trump's tweets. Must be that donation that put your name on Trump Tower that made you do it.
