As usual, your Trump apologetics are missing the point. Yes of course one should be allowed to carry losses on from year to year to balance the gains. That is only fair. But if Trump truly has had a loss that big and has not been able to get back in the black in the ensuing 18 years, that would mean this whole "successful businessman with a Midas touch" narrative has been a complete charade. No wonder he hasn't shared his returns.Originally posted by Moliere View PostSo, what's the point? There's a lot being made up in this whole thing. I don't see any evidence that he didn't pay taxes in the ensuing 18 years. Maybe I'm just missing it, but please link the evidence of that. All I've seen is this quote, which basically means nothing
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016...axes.html?_r=0that experts say could have allowed him to forgo paying federal income taxes for nearly two decades."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. I guess my point is that the media doesn't need to make up crap to convince people that Trump isn't a great business man. There's plenty of examples showing this. Sure, he's rich, but probably not as rich as he claims. But why make up crap to try to convince people of that? Maybe they don't care that people that actually deal with financial reports and taxes, which is a small subsection of the population, would read this article and roll their eyes about as far back as humanly possible. I'm sure the uneducated liberals are going crazy over this unfounded assumption.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThe point still stands."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. This latest tax news is unsurprising, although it's yet another reason why Trump won't release his recent returns. Clearly the audit, even if there is one, isn't the reason since he said he'd release his returns if Hillary released the emails.
Trump is the greatest self-promoter in memory. If he believed the returns would help him (e.g., by showing how successful or generous he is), he'd release them toot suite. But he won't, leaving us to wonder forever how bad they really are.
And btw, perhaps the biggest reason he'll never release them is that hundreds, maybe thousands, of tax professionals (not to mention hordes of investigative journalists) would scour them, focusing on every detail (IRS audits typically zero in on one or a few specifics), which for returns in the last four years could create a huge tax hit for him.

Just for a basis of comparison, Trump is the first presidential nominee since 1976 that has refused to release his returns."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Are you implying that a bunch of CPAs would find something and report it to hte IRS thus resulting in a much, much larger tax hit than he previously reported? I guess I operate under the assumption that Trump employees a very good tax accountant, or team of tax accountants.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostThis latest tax news is unsurprising, although it's yet another reason why Trump won't release his recent returns. I agree with you on everything else. He's dumb for not disclosing them unless they show something he doesn't want to show, at which point it's a no-win situation for him. But of course, this election is a no-win situation. I've been saying it for a long time now, he has no path to the presidency at all. Nothing. He's already lost."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I'm sure his tax guys are very good (Donald hires only the very best, or so we're told). But on arcane tax matters, among even the very best there will arise different opinions as to the proper tax treatment. I would expect Trump to have taken the most aggressive tax position on any matter, and that's where the audits will focus. Depending on how aggressive/creative Trump's guys were, given the hundreds of millions Trump apparently deals with, there will be a wide range of possible outcomes, and I'd bet none of them would be better for Trump than the one he chose to follow.Originally posted by Moliere View PostAre you implying that a bunch of CPAs would find something and report it to hte IRS thus resulting in a much, much larger tax hit than he previously reported? I don't know if this this has been posted already... But seems to explain why Trump is still even in this race.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...vering-supportThe Psychology Behind Donald Trump's Unwavering Support
Research explains why Donald Trump maintains support despite shocking behavior.
There’s no doubt that Donald Trump has said many things that would have been political suicide for any other Republican candidate. And almost every time he made one of these shocking statements, political analysts on both the left and the right predicted that he’d lose supporters because of it. But as we have clearly seen over the past year, they were dead wrong every time. Trump appears to be almost totally bulletproof.
The only thing that might be more perplexing than the psychology of Donald Trump is the psychology of his supporters. In their eyes, The Donald can do no wrong. Even Trump himself seems to be astonished by this phenomenon. "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? It's, like, incredible."
Senator John McCain, who has been a regular target for Trump during his campaign, has a simple explanation for his unwavering support. “What he did was he fired up the crazies.”
While the former Republican presidential nominee may be on to something, he doesn’t exactly provide a very satisfying scientific explanation. So how exactly are Trump loyalists psychologically or neurologically different from everyone else? What is going on in their brains that makes them so blindly devoted?

I like this explanation the best...
Studies have shown that people who lack expertise in some area of knowledge often have a cognitive bias that prevents them from realizing that they lack expertise. As psychologist David Dunning puts it in an op-ed for Politico, “The knowledge and intelligence that are required to be good at a task are often the same qualities needed to recognize that one is not good at that task — and if one lacks such knowledge and intelligence, one remains ignorant that one is not good at the task. This includes political judgment.” Essentially, they’re not smart enough to realize they’re dumb."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Not quite as demonstrative as Arnold's kid with the maid, but there is a slight resemblance. Of course, the article also mentions that there was a DNA test done back in 1999 that the kid wasn't Bill's. I like the part of the story where Bill is jogging along in 1984 and sees a prostitute hanging out by a public housing project. The governor then gives her $200 to have sex right on the spot behind the bushes.
The part about Bill being her only client at the time is also very believable.
But supposing it were all true, this kid could be a helluva Don Draper.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I have a friend who used to jog with him when he was the governor. I'll have to ask him his take on this, but I know he always jogged with a security detail as well.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View Posthttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...gnize-him.html
