But I also don't believe that such a wall is ineffective against illegal immigration and/or drug trafficking. Israel built a wall and it worked quite well for its purposes. It's not foolproof by any means, but it improved their security situation. That's why the Palestinians started launching rockets that were more likely to hit nothing than a person. They couldn't suicide bomb the Israelis at the same clip.
Completely agree that southern immigration isn't a problem (or at least not one worth spending much time bothering with). I think there's been a net outflow of late. Moreover, the immigrants have positive effect on the economy, fill jobs most of us don't want, and are more law-abiding than the rest of us.

And while I'm sure a wall would have some effect, the differences between Israel and the US in terms of size, the nature of an existential threat, and the coverage our respective walls might provide, weaken the comparison. Besides, the Palestinian wall looks depressingly awful, although that might actually enhance the view in southwest Texas.

all of them. He has zero chance if he can't get at least 90% of republicans to vote for him. This is a fact because he's only getting 30% of women and close to 0% of anyone who isn't white or under age 35. This was a desperation choice for him that shows he's really worried about the traditional GOP base not holding together for him.

they don't count. The thing voters need to realize in politics is that it's not just winning or losing that moves the needle. It's also the "score." A sitting member of Congress who barely wins is going to be seen as weak and therefore get less important committee assignments, attract less money from donors and as a result will decline in influence. The opposite becomes true for a winner who blows away their opposition or runs unopposed. The "score" matters. If you really care about making a statement with your vote and can't stomach the choices the dems and reps give you, then instead of writing in, pick another one actually listed on the ballot. If enough people did that, it would at least have some influence in what the major parties do. The dems and reps didn't give a crap about the issues Ross Perot raised until he attracted a big enough portion of the votes to influence the outcome. Then suddenly they cared about things like the deficit, at least for a while.

                I endorse this article!!

Damn all the people who will vote for him, and damn any progressives who sit this one out because Hillary Rodham Clinton is wrong on this issue or that one. Damn all the people who are suggesting they do that. And damn all members of the media who treat this dangerous fluke of a campaign as being in any way business as usual. Any support for He, Trump is, at this point, an act of moral cowardice. Anyone who supports him, or runs with him, or enables his victory, or even speaks well of him, is a traitor to the American idea.

Started reading and really enjoyed it until I saw a much better article on tantric sex. I wonder if JL wrote that one as well.

                  • Okay, so if we don't vote for HClinton, then we aren't good Americans.

                    Heil Hitlery!

                            • Still funny, still just as damning and insulting to Trump.

                              • It kills me that evangelicals more strongly favor Trump at this point than they did Mitt. It also bugs me that Mitt was criticized by people in his own party for being a flipflopper on a couple of issues.
