The Election Result Meltdown Thread

Hey, this thread is awesome. Some mocked at the start, but it has survived and flourished. People are still melting down over the election. This thread doesn't judge whether those meltdowns are justified, it is just a venue for them to be shared with the world. Don't blame the thread."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. “There is no Romney wing in the party that he needs to address,” said Ed Rogers, a longtime Republican strategist. “He never developed an emotional foothold within the GOP so he can exit the stage anytime and no one will mourn.”
Added Chris LaCivita, a senior party operative: “The comment just reinforced a perception — fairly or not – that Romney, and by default, the GOP are the party of the ‘exclusives’. It’s time for us to move on and focus on the future leaders within the GOP.”
Speaking of those future leaders, several of the candidates talked about as 2016 presidential possibilities quickly condemned Romney’s comments as well.
“We have got to stop dividing American voters,” said Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. “I absolutely reject that notion, that description … We’re fighting for 100 percent of the vote.” Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker added that the Republican party isn’t “just for people who are currently not dependent on the government.”
The strong intraparty reaction — just nine days after Romney loss the presidential race — speaks to the desire within the professional political ranks of the Republican party to move on as quickly as possible from an election that badly exposed their weaknesses.
The prevailing opinion among that group is that there is much work to be done and that Romney will have a hand in almost none of it. Put more simply: Thanks for playing. Now go away.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Romney's comments once again embody what has become a Republican article of faith: all Democrats are mooches and only vote Democratic because they need someone to support them.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postspeaking of which, more GOPers trying to distance themselves quickly from Mitt

It's amazing that something so clearly false has become a primary GOP economic talking point. I'm not sure what they are trying to gain with this nonsense. It's demonstrably false. It's insulting to about 52% of the country which voted Democratic. So what's the plan? Is it just to make Republicans feel bigger?

You are making a sweeping generalization. It would be like saying why do dems think the percent that voted republican are all old white males who want to screw everyone else.Originally posted by calicoug View PostRomney's comments once again embody what has become a Republican article of faith: all Democrats are mooches and only vote Democratic because they need someone to support them.

Probably 18% of the electorate are democrat mooches and 14% are old white male republicans who want to screw everyone. That is your 4% margin for the dems.

I am watching O'Reilly and he is backing Romney's analysis.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postspeaking of which, more GOPers trying to distance themselves quickly from Mitt

I do agree though most republicans will be distancing themseles from Romney. That is the smart political thing to do.
As a party we have to find a good politician not someone who is competent. Let that person go create jobs somewhere and let the polticians handle the politics.

It isn't my sweeping generalization. It's the Republican's. And I agree- it is a silly one, for all of the reasons I gave.Originally posted by byu71 View PostYou are making a sweeping generalization. My point was the democrats generalizations during the campaign were also silly. They won though and so don't have to explain themselves.Originally posted by calicoug View PostIt isn't my sweeping generalization. It's the Republican's. And I agree- it is a silly one, for all of the reasons I gave.

Gov. Bobby Jindal tells his party to stop "saying stupid things"...
This seems like good advise for both parties."We also don't need to be saying stupid things," Jindal said, referring to GOP Senate candidates in Missouri and Indiana who lost their races after comments about rape that were widely criticized."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.

Good advice, but some of them especially on the House side are so entrenched they can say and do the most stupid things and get re-elected.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostGov. Bobby Jindal tells his party to stop "saying stupid things"...

I saw an interview with Nanci P. this morning. I mistrust, dislike and am nauseated by her (and Harry R. for that matter), that if someone came to me with a partnership opportunity in which I could make a million dollars, if she was involved I would pass on it.
They are trying to get something done on the cliff thing and she is out their publicly setting down her ultamatums. I can see bit players do that, but she is in a leadership position. That is what is wrong with our current system. Extremists have their districts they own. After a while they get good leadership positions do to seniority.

He may have been referring to this: after the election results were announced, Utah rocketed to the fourth highest spot in the country.....for racist tweets about Obama.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostGov. Bobby Jindal tells his party to stop "saying stupid things"...

Interesting that I had to go to the actual article to find out the number of such tweets was low in Utah, but it shows up because the total number of tweets was also low. I guess our racists are just more vocal or make tweet more, but I appreciate the impression you and the Trib put out there.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHe may have been referring to this: after the election results were announced, Utah rocketed to the fourth highest spot in the country.....for racist tweets about Obama.

In reading through the article I didn't see what the criteria was for qualifiying as a "racist" tweet. I like to see that because we all know the definition of what is racist by some is ridiculous.
Good find though and it was interesting, but amounts to nothing but a headline for the Tribune.Last edited by byu71; 11-19-2012, 07:23 AM.

I know you are extra sensitive about this issue because just last week you were wondering whether black people get mad if white people beat them in basketball.Originally posted by byu71 View PostInteresting that I had to go to the actual article to find out the number of such tweets was low in Utah, but it shows up because the total number of tweets was also low. Yea, I guess we both have our issues. Your is with people who live in Utah and I understand you would respond to me as you did, since your standard for calling someone racist is very low.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI know you are extra sensitive about this issue because just last week you were wondering whether black people get mad if white people beat them in basketball.
Also as is your tactic, you changed what I said a bit to make it look worse. You are very clever.
