      No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned;
      Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia
      God forgives many things for an act of mercy
      Alessandro Manzoni

      Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

        I would've rejected the "invitation."

        No thanks-- build an underground bunker instead of a skyscraper so you don't fuck up my view and property value, please.

          Reading things like this makes me think bad things about the Church.

            I wish the prophets had had more foresight and initially purchased more land
            "Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

              I guess the church's assurances can't be believed. Boo.
              Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                I don't think bad things about the Church, and I certainly don't need a personal visit from Jesus for a heart-to-heart to explain what is and isn't the will of the Lord, but I roll my eyes at this stuff. Why can't they build um- two 3 story buildings for example? They're already tearing out a grip of buildings- why do they need a 6 story monstrosity? Really, it's ok to question a decision the brethren made in the boardroom.

                  Well at least they're not sticking with the early 70s tan brick motif. Oh wait.

                    They need to have that nice quad, not two three story buildings. The lord apparently told them that after much prayer and fasting.

                      Guys--these sorts of things just reflect the imperfect nature of men. Secular matters should have no bearing on your view of the divine nature of this Church.

                      Oh wait.
                      At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

                          My biggest beef about this is that they said they wouldn't build anything bigger than five stories and they went back on it.

                              I know you're just being facetious but the church should keep it's word to those residents.
