That's neat and all, but why?

So we can travel more than 600 miles in a day on scout trips.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. It will take you longer to drive there.

There are tons of applications... the mere incidence of accidents decreasing is worth many lives and billions of dollars. Not to mention it will bring down the prices on several items. Lets say you are shipping something from LA to Dayton Ohio. Its gets there faster and if you have programmed gas stops on the way you don't have to pay long haul truckers any more.

Apparently so men can do more rubbernecking instead of driving...

What if it sees another computer car with some really nice cores?

So if I need to go to a camp that is 1,000 miles away and this device lets me do that in one day (because it's now safe to drive that far in one day) that is still slower than driving 600 miles in one day, sleeping, then driving 400 miles the next day?

Don't you think engineers think about these things?

I'm against these cars. They will reduce accidents, which will reduce injuries from accidients, which will reduce lawsuits, which will put my kind out of work.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Well, you could always become a taxi driver. Oh wait...

It's like the time I was reading the Autoliv Form 10-K (they make airbags and car restraints) and they had to discuss why revenues were down for the year. It was partially because of fewer accidents. Talk about having to choose your words wisely.

I think the best use will be in densely populated metro areas. Carrying capacity of existing freeways could be increased several fold if following distance for reaction time and human error could be eliminated.
