I think for a lot these guys, sex with a dead wife is probably just as animated as with a living one. And that seems to be what they prefer, anyway.

From the article in the OP:
...a woman so unmoved by sex with her husband that as he focuses solely on his pleasure, she notices a spider web she must sweep off the ceiling and has time to ruminate on her husband's repeated refusal to prolong intercourse until she too climaxes, "as though purposely to deprive her."

What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

This article is a complete fabrication. Unless by her period of rumination is about 10 seconds.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

You are seriously equating sex with a dead body and Mormon women holding the priesthood???

I would venture to guess to missed the TIC in this post or perhaps I missed your response was TIC.

If you want to read a good book dealing with dead sex, I highly recommend Cormac McCarthy's Child of God. Six hours is nothing.

Thanks, I've been looking for a good book on that.

Good point, can anyone point me in the direction of any bad books on sex with dead people? I have already seen "Weekend at Bernies" but I must admit I longed for the triple X versions of "The Girls Next Door" so my search for bad books or shows about people having sex with dead, or mostly dead, people has been pretty authentic for sometime!

What claim or piece of information are you skeptical of? Do you think any of this is new?

Or are you just skeptical about the part where her husband denies her gratification?

I should have been more clear, but I was on my phone. I am skeptical that this piece of legislation is being seriously considered. I hold no illusions that some forms of Islam aren't very harmful toward women, I just think this report sounds more like Mideast politics dirty tricks than the truth. If I had to guess I would say it is the work of an Egyptian version of Lee Atwater (or Jim Carville if you would prefer).

I disagree with what the title of this thread implies, that is, that Islamic extremism somehow demonstrates that there is no war on women here at home.

Forget the polemic of framing it as a war and rather say, does the extreme deprivation of women's rights in those countries provide any justification for depriving women of rights in our country or any other? Do does it tell us anything about what should properly be a right or not?

I think whether there is a "war" on women here (which IMO is a dumb way to frame it that makes it too easy to distract from the real issue and bog down on whether it is a "war") is open for debate, but I don't think Islamic extremism aids any argument in that debate.

You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.
