Whenever I watch coverage and commentary of this trial I am perplexed at how much of the evidence supports Zimmerman's story, and the proseuction is still presenting its case. This morning someone on CNN was asking why the prosecution would have the FBI expert testify that he couldn't verify who shouted help in the background of the 911 call right before the prosecution presented Zimmerman's story where he says he was shouting for help. Some commentator said that was done in order to establish reasonable doubt for the jury.

    Huh?

Jeffery Toobin quickly noted that it is the defense's goal to establish reasonable doubt, not the prosecution's.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

As others have said this seems to be nothing but a show trial. It was an unfortunate and tragic situation inflamed by race baiters, the media and even our own president. Every witness for the prosecution has been terrible and put their own case on the defense. I hope we don't see LA-like riots if he is acquitted. The prosecution overreached and should have went for manslaughter if they wanted to try and convict Zimmerman of something. But I think there is a reason that the Sanford police never arrested him to begin with after their investigation and we're beginning to see why.

What is sad, is that a Police Chief was forced to resign from this. And in the end it looks like he was right and his staff were right.

This is probably one of the most critical things I have about Obama. His desire to "Chime-in" on such topics to stir the masses and further divide this country.. I pray he takes the silent approach on this or at least puts out a statement to ease the tension and the possibility of riots. But I have yet to see him take that approach unless it is his Admin. that is up for scrutiny..

My heart goes out to Travon's parents. Even if Zimmerman is innocent, it is a horrible tragedy and Zimmerman saying he doesn't regret getting out of his Truck bugs me. Travon's parents have called for this not to be a "racial" issue. However, with the likes of Al Sharpton and the MSNBC brigade out there, I think if Zimmerman is found innocent there will be some nasty incidents. I hope not.

That's also one of my criticisms of our President. On the campaign trail Obama talked about uniting. There was also rhetoric about having a much needed national discussion about race relations. With a minority in the White House, I had thought that perhaps the time had come for this greater discussion leading to policy improvements. Instead, we get the opposite, IMO. Strring the masses resulting in greater division and leading to more entrenchment. In my view, that will be one of the more profound "lost opportunities" of Obama's legacy.

Obama is doing exactly what he wants to do. He causes problems then hides. That's how he rolls.

Judge is now allowing medical details of what was in Trayvon Martin's body to be introduced to the jury (Report shows he had been smoking pot).. This will add validity to Zimmerman's 911 call suggesting "He was acting like he was on drugs".

I am still unsure if he will be acquitted of all charges. But things sure are going his direction. But with all the pressure and publicity will the jury feel pressured to charge him with something lessor? Who knows.

I really haven't been following this trial, but I don't get all the right-wing love for Zimmerman. He wasn't some citizen defending his family from armed burglars rather a real-life Jay Santos with a gun and without the training. I don't like the idea of armed neighborhood watch prowling the streets.

I'm not following this trial at all, but this seems funny to me for a couple reasons:

                        a) Marijuana stays in your body for like a month, so finding it in a toxicology report is not evidence that he was high at the time.
                        b) Are they really going to argue that weed made him more likely to be violent? Have they ever seen, like, a movie or anything? Dude bro.

That this even exists is just sad...

Isn't it obvious.. All right-Wing nuts are racist...

In all seriousness. I think many have claimed he is culpable for his actions that caused this, but First Degree is not one of them.. But that is what they decided to charge him with. I think he should of been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. He would of easily been convicted of this but this became a national issue (Including Obama Chiming in) with race as a over-arching part of this (Racial Profiling etc). The prosecutors were pretty much bullied into 1st Degree Murder.. I'd say those activists will be the reason he more than likely will be acquitted of 1st degree murderer and may be acquitted in general.

Agreed, but one of the main points is to paint Trayvon Martin as not the victim here. This may provide additional doubt of the person Trayvon Martin is (Or at least that is what the Defense is looking to do). They are looking to show that he is the type of person to attack, and severely injure if not kill a person and that is why Zimmerman had to defend his life by using his gun. This is all about perception...

Probably an easier way to appeal to Hispanics than passing an immigration law. Wait, I keep forgetting Zimmerman is White.

I personally vascillate back and forth. Fact is a young man is dead and originally he was basically doing nothing wrong and ends up no longer with us. On the other hand I am not convinced Zimmerman didn't end up in a position where he was truly fearing for his life. I am glad I am not on the jury.

One thing I do believe, it is horseshit this trial is getting all this publicity. I am getting very tired of court TV moving into the mainstream of cable TV. That women who killed her mormon boyfriend and now wall to wall coverage of this.
