If the Obama administration only put half the effort into implementing this website that they did on the technological side of his reelection campaign, this thing wouldn't have been such a disaster. But it's pretty much a microcosm of the Obama administration in general -- terrific at getting every crack addict in Philly to vote but not so good at actually governing.
The website is working great... five Iowans have signed up:

I wonder what that works out per Iowan.

    • Healthcare.gov was outsourced to the Great White North...

Canadian firm hired to build troubled Obamacare exchanges

A Canadian tech firm that has provided service to that country's single-payer health care system is behind the glitch-ridden United States national health care exchange site healthcare.gov.

CGI Federal is a subsidiary of Montreal-based CGI Group. With offices in Fairfax, Va., the subsidiary has been a darling of the Obama administration, which since 2009 has bestowed it with $1.4 billion in federal contracts, according to USAspending.gov.

The "CGI" in the parent company's name stands for "Conseillers en Gestion et Informatique" in French, which roughly translates to "Information Systems and Management Consultants." However, the firm offers another translation: "Consultants to Government and Industry."

So can you use the healthcare.gov website to open a beer, aye?

      • CGI is a terrible company. I have several people that work/worked for them including my brother (most worked for Stanley when CGI acquired them). After the acquisition CGI terminated health benefits but did offer a pet insurance program. It was particularly difficult for my brother whose wife was pregnant and expecting at the time. He has since moved on to another company.

My neighbor works for CGI and when I probed what he did he said he works on Medicare. I may have to talk to him some more.

Wish I had pet insurance because I am laying out real coin lately. But, as pet friendly as I am, I still know that pets << babies.

I've decided that pets have a lifetime maximum of $1,000 in medical costs and then my death panel rejects any future work being done.

I hate pets. So no lifetime maximum and no death panel.

So you have instituted Obamacare for your pets.

Just the death part, but I don't pay any insurance premiums for their care. I'm self-insured.

If it were up to me we wouldn't have any, but I live with other people that I occasionally try to appease.

                      • The Government Shutdown and Obamacare demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of both parties. Democrats are great with people. However, as Obamacare is demonstrating they just suck at making things work. They love flowery utopic ideas but the real world is just not their forte. Republicans absolutely suck with people. I cannot for the life of me understand why they make a specific program the enemy other than the nebulous concept of "government spending." Democrats, who are great with people, understand the popularity of just about every program in theory, even if most of them work like government entities, so they attempt to bait the Republicans into specifics. Funding the government and raising the debt ceiling is winnable for Republicans if they just keep it on "cutting government spending." It doesn't even have to use the word "wasteful." People are against the massive debts and while everyone wants anyone richer than them to pay more in taxes I think most people believe the out of control spending is a bigger driver of our deficits. Now that I think about it I don't think I highlighted any Republican strengths.

Finally, I believe Barack Obama and the Tea Party deserve each other.

Here are a couple of more that deserve each other. Harry Reid and Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Barbara Boxer, Sean Hannity and Crissy Matthews. I can't think of anyone I would wish on Nanci Pelosi. Maybe Urban Myer

Harry Reid is an asshat because he has to work with the President's agenda but I think Harry and Boehner could solve many problems and work things out but for Harry having to cover for President Obama and Boehner having to work with the Tea Partiers.

Cruz is a well meaning df. But as a lifetime BYU fan I have become immune to well meaning df's so it takes me a while to identify them.

Harry Reid used his political clout to make millions. I don't think you could say President Obama ever used political influence for financial gain for himself. (I had to say that so I can fall back on it when someone calls me a racist for opposing one of his policies)

                              • Obamacare's Website Is Crashing Because It Doesn't Want You To Know How Costly Its Plans Are

The answer is that Obamacare wasn’t designed to help healthy people with average incomes get health insurance. It was designed to force those people to pay more for coverage, in order to subsidize insurance for people with incomes near the poverty line, and those with chronic or costly medical conditions.

But the laws’ supporters and enforcers don’t want you to know that, because it would violate the President’s incessantly repeated promise that nothing would change for the people that Obamacare doesn’t directly help. If you shop for Obamacare-based coverage without knowing if you qualify for subsidies, you might be discouraged by the law’s steep costs.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.
