Like I said, I know nothing about the case. I'm just imagining the possibility that he was innocent and driven to madness by a system determined to find him guilty. That he exploded his kids would seem to make it more likely that he actually was guilty, but I don't know whether that would justify the assumption of his guilt without evidence.

I know nothing about the case, but if this is just an instance of the authorities assuming the husband did it based on how these cases often turn out, rather than there being any evidence against him, then the system is certainly culpable to some degree.

There was a lot of circumstantial evidence that Josh killed his wife. There was the crazy camping trip in the middle of the night and a fan set up to dry the carpet. And he wasn't a fit parent because of the aspersions he cast and allowed his father to cast on Susan (that she was promiscuous and ran off) and the fact that he obstructed the search.

This confirms that the judge was right to give custody to Susan's parents. And in my mind Josh has just confirmed that he is a violent, sick bastard and that he killed his wife.

There are times to rail against overreaching by the government and to promote civil rights, but this isn't one of those times. Too bad they couldn't get Josh in prison soon enough. And whoever wrote this comment is defending the murder of 2 innocent kids. So yeah I would say he's wrong, yeah.

Nope. You are simply wrong here. The system worked and nothing about it made josh powell do this other than his own demented selfishness and perhaps his gulty conscience. To attribute this to a Judge or the system is ridiculous.

They have evidence, just probably not enough to convict. There's a different standard in place when you're talking about maintaining custody of children. And from the way things turned out, there's a good reason for that. It's strange to blame the authorities for "not having any evidence right after the guy demonstrated the worst possible scenario of what could happen when you give custody to a guy that is suspected of murder but the state can't meet the proof beyond a reasonable doubt standard.

I just don't understand the CB sentiment. If the mormon version is correct that there was a pre-existance and the sons/daughters of god fought to live life and have agency, how could one reconcile that two young children being killed by their father is a "heavenly" outcome (as one suggests there)?
