      Flame away.
Who's going to argue with this? Chris Christie could join the race tomorrow and he'd have a good shot at winning the nomination still. It is a lackluster field, and the best ones IMO (Romney, Pawlenty) came across as awkward and less than genuine.

          Good work.

I agree on the shorter version but I do think that specifying that it's not just homes but jobs and wealth and economic security makes it a harder hit.

Mitt going with the old "Newt oughtta give the money back to Freddie line." I don't like that line. It's small. It doesn't work coming from a guy with as much money as Romney.

Decent read of Newt's involvement in Freddie Mac and his conflicting statements about it:

Agree. I much prefer the "show us your contracts and work product" line of attack.

I agree that line isn't very good. What Mitt oughta go with is "Newt, don't give the $1.6 million back to Freddie. Give it back to the American people! They are the ones you took it from!"

Along with attacking him on the merits, I agree. But in isolation, there may not be much to the contracts as Gingrich has allegedly asked for them to be released. The work product may be more revealing.

Newt is saying he urged the house to vote yes on the ethics charges against him so that they could get to what was most important, balancing the budget. That is a silver tongue if any.

On the work product, this seems damning from Surfah's link above:
Former and current Freddie Mac executives told Bloomberg News that Gingrich was hired to develop an argument on behalf of the company's public-private structure that would resonate with conservatives seeking to dismantle it. He wasn't asked to personally deliver that message on Capitol Hill, they said.

                            Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...#ixzz1kJnQn4bT
So he may not have been lobbying, but he was hired for the explicit purpose to keep the death spiral going rather than dismantle it as (lets call them) "true conservatives" were trying to do. This goes directly at the line of attack that I think woudl be most beneficial. Conservatives wanted to take it down while Newt was hired to prop it up, which led to the financial disaster.

I don't prefer Newt over Romney. I have zero plans to vote for Newt and think Romney would be a more qualified POTUS if elected.
