HILLARY!!!! We'd sweep all 57 states!

Why isn't John Thune being talked about? He'd be THE slam-dunk choice.

Karl Rove weighs in on the veepstakes.

              http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...484193362.html

This was brought home to me in 2000, when then-Gov. George W. Bush was strongly leaning toward picking Dick Cheney as his VP. He knew I was opposed and invited me to make the case against his idea. I came to our meeting armed with eight political objections. Mr. Bush heard me out but with a twist: I explained my objections with Mr. Cheney sitting, mute and expressionless, next to the governor.

The next day, Mr. Bush called to say I was right. There would be real political problems if he chose Mr. Cheney. So solve them, he said. Politics was my responsibility. His job was different: to select his best partner in the White House and a person the country would have confidence in if something terrible happened to him.

Jindal as Romney surrogate. He is my favorite as VP.

I agree, Jindal has the potential to be awesome.

He did fine spouting out the talking points. But I'm still waiting to be wowed by him. I'm not seeing what everyone else is. That interview was boring and could have been given by any press secretary.

I'm kind of lukewarm on Jindal for the reasons this article highlighted:

I know why you/they think this - but I think you're underestimating his appeal and his effectiveness.

Ryan is nearly alone among national politicians in his totally unaffected earnestness in framing and addressing policy challenges - and he has framed and addressed THE most pressing national challenge more effectively than anyone on the landscape.

Yes, the Dem counter did succeed in sliming him - but put him in the spotlight and let him talk (esp facing Biden) and he's going to walk away looking a lot better. In large part bc he's smart as hell, fast on his feet and also - he's largely right on this issues and has the benefit of not lying to the American people about the state of the economy.

"More effectively"??? Based on what? On popularity among the conservative rank and file?

His "roadmap" is a joke. It is a policy and economic joke. At least it would be if people weren't actually considering implementing it. More than anything, it shows just how sad of a state things are in Washington. If what he is selling passes as the "intelligent approach," heaven help us all.

I would love nothing more than to shine a giant spotlight on what he has proposed and what Republicans have supported and passed in the House. Maybe then people will wake up and realize just how far the Republican Party has drifted.
