Oh, Yes, Bill was talking about his "good old days"...

Bill Clinton Recalls "Romantic" Days of Prostitutes in Times Square

Former President Bill Clinton fondly remembers a "romantic" time when you could still get a prostitute in Times Square.

Clinton was at a news conference in Times Square with Mayor Bloomberg on Wednesday when a reporter asked him about the formerly seedy neighborhood.

Clinton said he first visited Times Square in 1964 when he was a freshman at Georgetown University. He said he saw "a hooker approach a man in a gray flannel suit." He said it was "pretty heavy stuff for a guy from Arkansas."

Clinton said the area is cleaner and safer now — and that's good.

But he sounded like he missed the old days.

"I still have vivid memories of it," he said. "Romantic. Fascinating. It was dangerous."

I think it will make very little difference in the outcome of the election. In fact, I would be even less apt to vote for Obama if it meant we never had Biden around to tell wheelchair bound people to stand up and introduce themselves.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Yes I was. The difference between Cain and Obama is that Cain had experience in being in an executive position. It wasn't politics, but he at least knew that tough decisions had to be made and was a leader. Obama had zero executive experience.

You should be encouraging him to vote for Obama, not dissuading him. He is of noble birth after all. Mr. Palo Alto may not be a hunter gatherer but he at least recognizes in the compassion which is Obama.

Please do. The truth needs to be told.

I really like what Hillary has does as Secratery of State. I think that it is a great strategic election move. However, Biden would have some big shoes to fill.

I've changed the thread title to include speculation about Romney's VP as well. I'm fairly confident (and certainly hopeful) it's going to be Rubio. Yes, he's been rather emphatic he's not interested, but as a fairly new senator, and for good political reasons, he HAS to say that. As long as Romney looks like he has a reasonable shot (even if less than 50-50) of winning, Rubio will accept, especially when the party's elders (!) apply some pretty strong pressure, which they certainly will. Rubio's LDS background may likely help, more than hurt, since he was able to walk away without repercussions and he's now a darling of the evangelical right, while eschewing much of that wing's nuttiness.

And I really hope Obama keeps Biden. I like the guy, but only in the way I like people to hang out with on the golf course or for long enjoyable dinner conversations, and not as a possible head of state. His latest declaration is especially amusing, in which he describes Obama's (admittedly courageous) decision to go in after bin Laden: “You can go back 500 years. You cannot find a more audacious plan.” Doesn't matter if it was negative (Pearl Harbor, the Blitzkrieg, Napoleon's march into Russia) or positive (Operation Overlord)--wimps all of them. Obama trumped them all.

That's a very interesting point. I'm curious how accurate that turns out to be.

I have heard several national figures claim that Rubio is the best and most obvious choice. His former church membership never came up.

I don't think it would be big issue. If you have problems with Mormonism, you won't be able to get past the top of the ticket. Either way, Rubio clearly is no longer practicing.

For Romney it's going to be Rob Portman, Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio. All three come from swing states (well, ostensibly Wisconsin may be a swing state) and all three are respected within the party. Portman has some advantages in that he comes from the most competitive swing state of all, Ohio, and he's someone that most people would feel secure if he were to become President. Ryan has the right message and policy chops at the right time. Rubio has the energy, comes from demographic the GOP needs to make headway with and he comes from the second most (arguably the most competitive swing state) competitive swing state.

Rubio's Deacon status on the church rolls also give him in the inside edge because they could just make Romney Rubio's home teacher, and have Romney be in charge of Rubio's reactivation efforts one they're both in Washington. I assume the White House and wherever the Vice President lives would be in the same ward??
