Freedom to Robin: The ability to go look at Christmas lights in public places with my wife and son.

Freedom to IPU: The ability to grow anthrax and shrooms in a basement that is protected by a man with an RPG.

    I win again.

      Nice try.

Freedom to me is the government involving itself as little as necessary.

Freedom to you is hindering others so you feel safe.

      I win.

'As little as necessary' means to Robin: Protecting the right of people to own and operate hand guns, shot guns, and semi-automatic weapons including the AR-15, but requiring the demonstration of the ability to safely use and store these weapons through registration.

'As little as necessary' means to IPU: The ability to buy an unlimited number of fully automatic weapons and sell them to strangers out of the basement.

        I win again.

          No, you don't win.

When I buy weapons, they are for me. I don't sell them illegally or legally.

And I know how to use them safely.

Freedom for me is not having to worry about those who would try to do me harm because I have a weapon for protection.

Freedom for you is thinking that criminals will go through the established legal process to buy weapons.

          I win.

Okay, you win. I have to go eat.

            Cheers!

              Registration precedes confiscation.

              Government wins.

                I just don't believe that.

Registration MIGHT precede confiscation, but confiscation is highly unlikely in the United States. Our gun culture runs too deep. The people wouldn't put up with it, and any attempt to do this would be political suicide. Besides, registration would just make confiscation slightly easier. If the government wanted to confiscate our guns, they could do so with or without registration.

Venkman, do you think it is acceptable for the state government to outlaw common citizens bringing firearms onto a school campus? If you could explain, I would appreciate it. Of course this is a trap. If you agree with me that schools are exceptional, then you have accepted the legitimacy of a debate about making exceptions for other areas (like neighborhoods controlled by violent gangs). If you disagree, and think that guns should be allowed on school campuses, then you have marginalized yourself (most Americans, even gun owners like myself, would consider this the fruitcake position).

Also, what do you think of the policy of our military disarming Iraqis?

I'm sort of a moderate on gun-control (I'm all for registration and such) and I'm honestly not sure why college campuses should be treated uniquely.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Yes, let's ban guns from schools and "violent neighborhoods", that's worked out pretty well so far. LMFAO.
