    It is also sad to see Greg Poe. I talked to him last year at AirPower Over Hampton Roads in Langeley, VA, about 2 weeks before he passed away (heart attack). Greg was a great guy, and an advocate for troubled youth. He lost his own son in 2002 to drug addiction (suicide), and he set up a the 'Elevate Your Life' program to speak with students about following their dreams.

    He was doing things that my RC planes are capable of, but that I have never seen a full-scale do. He told me he is pushing 420 hp out of his IO-540 because he ran ethanol (far higher compression ratios are possible than with gasoline because ethanol inhibits preignition). 420 hp in a 1200# plane = unbelievable thrust to weight ratio. I have never seen a FS complete a rolling harrier pass. Amazing.

      Yes, he was in the video. Seeing the video reminded me of him. My mom knew him through mutual flying friends going back to the mid 90s so his death was a bit of a personal loss as well.

      Greg Poe was based in Boise and flew in airshows all over the western US, especially at Reno. He also was a friend of Steve Appleton of Micron, and taught him to fly aerobatics. Steve crashed and was killed a few months ago.

          It was 3.5 weeks ago.

            For those how have knowledge. I am mulling the idea of taking the family to an Air Show. There is the Dayton Air Show and the Cleveland Air Show.

            Which one is better (YOhio's opinion need not apply)


            Also: Here is more video's etc about the IMAX movie "Air Racers".. Interviews with Steve Hinton etc

              Any chance this will get a wider distribution? I'd love to take my son to this up in SLC.

                I see it has a very limited release in its locations.. Nothing located on the west Coast. Bummer

                But I am lucky that I have one within an hour drive for me at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton..
