  • The officer is still on active duty "pending an internal investigation".
The Department of Public Safety officers did nothing.
The University of Utah officer did nothing.

People don't like cops because cops seem to rarely suffer consequences when they abuse their authority and cops always seem to protect, rather than police, their own first.

Cue the usual defenders of all things law enforcement in 3, 2, 1...

    • That cop needs to never have policing powers again. His Lieutenant needs to lose his as well, since he ordered him to arrest her if she refused. It's abuse of authority and the citizenry, and I don't think you get second chances with gross abuse like this, and not just of the nurse's, of the unconscious patient's too.

Also, what a bunch of cobardes pendejos those in-house cops were in not stopping him from doing that. Goddamned cowards!

            • I love the part when the Lieutenant argues with the woman, stating that she is committing obstruction of justice, while also explaining that what the cops are doing would be okay because, if wrong, it would be "fruit of the poison tree", and thereby inadmissible. Now there's a comforting thought. What's to stop them from taking anything from anyone on a whim?

Both should be shown the door. Inexcusable.

Cops in Utah don't typically have collective bargaining agreements.

Your forgot to mention the SLC PD needs to be sued out of existence for hiring this man and the other cops allowing him to grab that woman. The tax payers of Utah need to pay!

Edit: I have looked but can't find any news reports of rioting going on in SLC over this. Utahns are lazy.

The guy from whom they wanted to extract the sample was also a cop.

Porter and Wubbels declined to release information about the patient, but Payne’s report identifies him as 43-year-old William Gray, a reserve officer in the Rigby, Idaho, Police Department, who suffered burns during a July 26 crash in Cache County.

Now I understand why she didn't want to let the cop get the blood. She's naturally skittish because she's a former blood doper!

                              • If she had let him take the blood it would not have been admissible. What a dope! Also, just get a warrant. It shouldn't have taken more than a minute.
