really dont know how you can watch the video and not fault the cop. he told the cop he had a gun and he was told to get his ID. cop cant wait 1 second before unloading 7 shots?

if the guy is reaching for his gun, no he can't wait 1 second - that could be the difference between going home to his family or going to the morgue.

because criminals never do stupid things. not saying this guy was a criminal, but the cop didn't know whether or not he was at the time.

We can argue in the abstract here, but have you seen the video? It really does show a cop who overreacted. If not criminally so, then at the very least negligently.

I thought about that argument right after I saw the video and started forming an opinion. it's a good argument. but it doesn't account for the fact that there are lot of people out there who want to kill cops for myriad reasons. I don't think two guys in the parking lot at a gun range in a fender bender is an apples to apples comparison.

A guy at the shooting range doesn't have the power to arrest you and put you in jail either. Definitely not a fair comparison.

Amen. It's shocking how many statements I've read from people like maximus the last couple days definitively stating be was going for his id/wallet or wasn't reaching for his gun implying the cop should have known that. Maybe he was going for his wallet, but there is no possible way to see that based on the video. Silliness.
