It doesn't need to be amended; it just needs to be subject to a sane interpretation.

So what do you think he deserves?

I'm anti-death penalty so I'd sentence him to 80 or so consecutive life sentences.

LOL at you. Now there is an original retort to this issue that I'm sure none of us has ever heard before. zzzzzzz

What else you got? Guns don't kill people, people kill people. There saved you the trouble.

Hows this: 2 years to total handgun ban. Government buys and destroys all handguns at pre-approved prices. Collector and rare guns included, at prices set by American gun experts. After that date anyone caught in posession of a handgun is arrested. Anyone using a handgun in the commission of a crime gets an enhanced penalty.*

Rifles and shotguns (and muzzle loading muskets! the most advanced weapon the founding fathers posessed when the 2nd amendment was written) are still legal, hence some of you can still cling to that God-given right just as tightly as ever.

I'm still waiting to hear how my Browning Auto-5 isn't a better machine to defend me and mine than a Glock. But I can't sneak it into a theatre or a bank.

                *just like now.

Norway's penal system is a genuine 'correctional system.' It doesn't exist to punish people. While I can totally understand the desire to punish this guy... to really punish this guy, I can't help but think that a 'correctional system' is a far more Christian way to approach incarceration.

I was listening to one of the many educational funding debates on NPR the other day, and this education advocate noted that it costs the state between $60-80k to incarcerate one prisoner for one year. In contrast, the state expects to provide a quality education to each child for less than $4500 each year. I wonder what it costs Norway to incarcerate a single prisoner. I'm not arguing for anything specific here. It just seems like this country pays way too much for war and incarceration, and that money could be put to much more useful purposes.

                      Delusional.

Do you mean like the completely illegal heroin? Or the totally illegal murder?

Why are liberals always trying to take away freedoms for the common good?

How many American handgun owners don't commit crimes with their weapons?

Good point, suicide, while still possible with a shotgun, is much more difficult to say nothing of the number of kids accidently shooting another kid with daddy's pistol. Accidents can still happen with long guns, but they are much less common.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I greatly appreciate your support on this issue.

I've got another idea, as long as we're spouting ideas we think will make the USA a better place:

How about the government rounds up all stinking middle aged hippies with strong socialist bents, compensates them for their property at a value set by a commission of highly educated yet unelected experts who "know what is best", and ships them off to live in the socialist nirvana state of their choice anywhere around the globe.

The stinking middle aged hippies with strong socialist bents would be happy in their new socialist nirvana homelands and those of us that aren't stinking middle aged hippies with strong socialist bents would be happy as well.

                          What's not to like?

Delusional? Don't you think murder may be slightly more prevelant were it legal?
I think I might become a practioner if that were the case. As it stands now there is very little chance of that, doubly so since I don't feel the need to hide a popgun on my person.

Personally I like my idea better. But can I put in for Italy now before the line gets too long?

I can see what you libs mean about that warm fuzzy feeling you claim to get when you pay taxes - I definitely see warm fuzzy possibilities for me were my tax dollars to support this.
