Good hell. My complaint, for the fucking last time, is that Al Gore is trying to tell people how he thinks they should live their lives.

It's interesting when someone's ideology blinds them so thoroughly that they literally can't see how repulsive their arguments are. Uncle Ted wrote that being pro-choice runs counter to Gore's plan, apparently because Gore wants to force women to not have kids, and later wrote that Gore's "new world order" includes the practice of sterilization.

The genie is out of the bottle and uneducated people living off the dole have [shockingly] decided they like having sex without using contraceptives.
I'm afraid you've missed the point. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, contraceptives don't work unless they're accompanied by education. To respond to that argument by saying that uneducated people don't use contraceptives is to reinforce the very point you think you're opposing.

The entirety of humans living today could fit into a cube a mile on each side. Protip: overpopulation has nothing to do with the amount of physical space taken up by humans. That's not to say I think overpopulation is nearly as bad now as it was before the birth rate started plummeting, but it's still not something to ignore, particularly in the developing world where it remains a huge problem.

I didn't even respond to you. My post has nothing to do with your point. My point is more related to people inside the United States. I think everyone has been fully educated in this country on contraceptives. Whether they choose to do anything with this knowledge is an entire other story -- that's my point. My use of "uneducated" is my code word for stupid poor people who make bad choices because the bad choices don't carry the same consequences that they used to.

If Al Gore is talking about people that live in Chad, then, really, what's the point as it relates to global warming?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'll just say that the bolded point is completely absurd and leave it at that.

Completely absurd because you say so? Are you telling me that some people are so stupid that they don't know that sex without a rubber can lead to a pregnancy? It isnt rocket science and its not like this hasn't been pounded into people for over 30 years. I'm not saying we should reduce the amount of education on this matter and the education hasn't had a positive effect but I think its ridiculous to say that its a mystery to anyone in this country that sex without contraceptives can lead to a pregnancy. The amount of education isn't the problem, it's the lack of follow-through that's the problem and no amount of education is going to fix that. The forcing of hard choices on people would fix it but I don't think anyone has the will to go down that path.
