I do too. I'll say it again. I'm glad we took him out. I was especially glad when I heard the first stories. It made me proud of our military, their bravery, and their skill. I was proud of President Obama for having the guts to do it. I still have admiration for all involved and the decision President Obama made, but tell me the truth and have your team tell me the truth. The objective clearly wasn't to take him alive. And I'm supportive of that position. The man needed to die. I'm sure they're being FOIAed, so I suspect they'll be released eventually. Would release of the photos further inflame our enemies in a significant way? I think that would be the only reason not to release them.Originally posted by scottie View PostWhat's yall's opinion on whether death photos should be released? I think they should, with the open head wound portion of it blurred out so it isn't as gruesome maybe.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The photos absolutely MUST be released, and unedited. There can be no question that he is dead, and that we took out the right guy.Originally posted by scottie View PostWhat's yall's opinion on whether death photos should be released? Media outlets will be able to self-censor, blur out the scary parts, or show them with extensive warnings after bedtime for little kids, but they MUST come out.
Personally I don't think I will look at them. I purposely never watched the Hussein execution video. I am still haunted by the movie of the contractor being beheaded, and Iraqi villagers getting "spiked" by Saddam Hussein's thugs.

It would be cool to find out that rather than wrapping his body in linen, they wrapped it in bacon.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostExcellent point. They wanted to make sure he was dead and a bomb or even a missle from a predator was going to make it very difficult to do that. Shooting him, carrying out his 6'7" body and taking a DNA sample was probably the only way to get this done.
Do you think they really did the Islamic burial rites? C'mon, really? On the Carl Vinson? I'd hope to think they wrote rude comments on his forehead before they zipped the weighted bag shut. At this point I say F them. Tell the Imams to get a handle on the radicals, and to take back Islam from the jihadis.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWould release of the photos further inflame our enemies in a significant way? I think that would be the only reason not to release them.
Tell them we will pull out and leave them alone, but let them know that a major attack in the US will result with a few Tomahawks in Mecca. Then Medina. Then (fill in the blank)...
They claim all their "holy sites" are off-limits. Well, you know what? EVERY American city is a "holy site" in some way.

I can't believe you would be happy to hear about our government wasting so much delicious and precious bacon. Socialist commie.

Is it possible for the terrorists to hate the USA any more than they already do? I don't think so, so I say release the photos.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostI'm sure they're being FOIAed, so I suspect they'll be released eventually. Can the photos be any more gruesome than what we see in movies, tv or video games? Not at all. Sure, rather than special effects of makeup the blood is real, but the visual is the same. Of course, I've seen some rather gruesome things in my days as a funeral director, so perhaps I'm a bit more desensitized in that regard.
Personally, I'd rather see photos of bin Laden in the moments before he was shot when he realized that his life was just about to end and that it was Americans who were going to end it. The fear and shock in his face would be tremendously satisfying to me.Last edited by il Padrino Ute; 05-04-2011, 08:56 AM."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Hey, I'm okay with government waste if it's insulting to a group of people who want to see all Americans dead. I would be willing to reimburse the government for the cost of the bacon.Originally posted by Lost_Student View Post

They could add a "donate $1.00 to the OBL bacon fund" to the tax returns, kind of like the Presidential Election thing.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostHey, I'm okay with government waste if it's insulting to a group of people who want to see all Americans dead.
