    Exactly.

Bloody hell, blame OBL for conducting his affairs in such a manner as to put his family in a position to witness his execution.

If we are looking for some moral high ground here (bizarre at that may sound), we can pat ourselves on the back for going in with a surgical strike rather than just bombing the place.

I agree. I guess my problem with this is that the information has changed. It wasn't needed it was intended. That seems different from what President Obama told the world Sunday.

Again, I'm THRILLED he was killed. I just wish the information around it had been consistent. I think it paints the US in a negative light to the rest of the world. That is not what we need right now.

        I don't see the problem.
Exactly. All that matters is that bin Laden is dead.

It is embarrassing that the initial intel was so wrong.

Was it the intel or the media incorrectly trying to extrapolate a complete story out of the tidbits they were getting from people who didn't have first-hand info to begin with?

If I were the Navy Seal (I refuse to capitalize all the letters in "seal" ) that pulled the trigger, this is what I would have said to his daughter:

"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your father had it coming. When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I'll be waiting."

Then I'd cross Osama'a name off the list (along with Saddam's name) and head over to North Korea......to Kill Il.

I've just read that the photos of UBL are pretty graphic - as in, part of his head around the eyes is blown off. Which is pretty much what you'd expect from a bullet to the skull.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

If you were a Navy SEAL, it would be proof that Title IX has gone too far.

Also, whats up with everyone here all of a sudden going from OBL to UBL? I refuse to do that, too.

As do I. It's obl. I refuse to capitalize his initials.

The details we are discussing came from John Brennan, the WH National Security Advisor in a press conference he gave. He shouldn't have been giving out faulty info. Not the media's fault in this case.

I doubt they are more graphic that the video of JFK's assasination, which I've watched probably a hundred times. Or the photo released of the dead-from-bombing Hussein boys, which I don't remember many people objecting to at the time.

The photo is proof of death, the gov't is in possession of it, so it should be released. That's what I'm thinking. We know the photo exists. We know what is in the photo. I don't see how it can be classified as confidential. Anyone smart enough to know if this wouldn't have to be released under a Freedom of Information request? I don't get it.

To me, it's always been both Osama and UBL. Fox News goes with Usama, which means, that's the most correct way. Also, Usama is slightly less like Obama.

                              Here's wiki:
There is no universally accepted standard for transliterating Arabic words and Arabic names into English;[11] bin Laden's name was most frequently rendered "Osama bin Laden." The FBI and CIA, as well as other US Governmental agencies, have used either "Usama bin Laden" or "Usama bin Ladin", both of which may be abbreviated as "UBL". Less common renderings include "Ussamah Bin Ladin" and "Oussama Ben Laden" in the French-language media. Other spellings include "Binladen" or, as used by his family in the West, "Binladin". The spellings with "o" and "e" come from a Persian-influenced pronunciation also used in Afghanistan, where bin Laden spent many years.
The Arabic linguistic convention would be to refer to him as "Osama" or "Osama bin Laden", not "bin Laden" alone, as "bin Laden" is a patronymic, not a surname in the Western manner. In its expanded form, it means "Osama, son of Mohammed, son of 'Awad, son of Laden".

has there been much clamor that Osama is not dead and that this is a hoax? Doesn't seem like they need to release the death photos.
