I'll disagree with Cass if he doesn't think the licencing requirements for Medicine and Law are absurd. There could be a lot of improvement by relaxing occupational licencing, especially in medicine. Nobody should have to pay the full price of a doctor's visit for a lot of the simple problems they have to visit doctors for.

As for lawyers...well there are far too many of them, so maybe they should make the licencing even more difficult. And then lawyers could charge even more and provide even less value to society.

As far as I could tell, Cass didn't opine as to whether current licensing requirements for medicine and law are adequate or insufficient, only that he considered it reasonable for there to be somewhat restrictive licensing requirements in those fields.

What is it that you think should be allowed to be performed by non-doctors that is not currently allowed?

The licensing part doesn't bug me so much, but the hoops you have to go through to keep the license current bug me.

Continuing education is important, but at least half of it is a waste. I can get 90% on the tests without ever listening to or reading the material, however you have to in order to get to the test.
