    (i) is considered to be on notice that a pregnancy and an adoption proceeding regarding the child may occur; and
(ii) has a duty to protect his own rights and interests.

Here is the interesting thing, if you are on the birth certificate you are actually entitled to notice, but to preserve your right to notice you also have to file a paternity action and file notice of the paternity action with the office of vital stats.

So this particular father was actually entitled to notice which the mother failed to provide. However, he didn't preserve his right to notice. In short, it is a messed up law.
Yeah that seems like a complete abridgment of parental rights. You have to file a paternity action? GMAFB. How about we decide that secretly giving away other people's babies if they don't timely perform legal hopscotch is something that is untenable to us as a society?

It shouldn't pass the smell test. I also wouldn't be surprised if the law failed to withstand a federal constitutional challenge. However, that is the law here in the fine State of Zion. Got to get more babies from those sinners to lawfully married couples. Of course, unless that lawfully married couple is gay, keep them away from those counterfeit marriages.

Turns out the father probably wasn't as in the dark about potential adoption as he claims to have been.

I feel bad for the would be adoptive parents. They should have got something in writing from the father early on if they met with him as they say. That seems very basic to me, but I admit to know very little about the process.

This is a heart breaking story about an Afghan child being taken by a Marine and his wife. It ticks me off how this went down.

I’ve met some of the CLAMO guys, but definitely not this one.

As af 24 hours ago, this link still had his information and photo, but now it is scrubbed.

I think the media spotlight shining on this could end up being of benefit to the Afghan family.

If the article presents the information accurately, seems like an open and shut case. He seems like a Christian zealot.

The adoption has been voided, but they still have the baby for now. Hopefully it won't take too long for the child to be returned to her family.
