  • shameless?

Not only has she started a website, she's actually asking for donations:
    http://www.thenadyasulemanfamily.com/

Seeing pictures of the babies makes me that much angrier about the whole thing. Is it just me?

    She is begging.

How do you feel about a beggar on the street? She was a clinically depressed woman who sought happiness by following her innate maternal instincts, and now she is a beggar.

I think you are being a little harsh.

I see more desperate need than lack of shame. Can you imagine being unemployed, unmarried and living with your parents with 14 kids toraise? Yikes.
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

It isn't just you. It makes me angry too. I watched the last half of her Dateline NBC interview last night. My blood was boiling. And I don't care how much she denies it, I still believe she had plastic surgery to try and look like Angelina Jolie paid for by the tax payers of CA.

Bill O'Reilly agrees with you. That's just plain good company (sorry couldn't resist).

              Innate maternal instincts?

Perhaps I'm harsh. I probably am. But these babies didn't deserve this. At ten weeks early, the babies are likely all going to be handicapped. The whole thing strikes me as so irresponsible on the part of the mother and doctor.

I wonder if she doesn't elicit a certain angry jealousy from some of us. These days children are more of a luxury than they have been in the past. We ask ourselves, "How many children can we responsibly afford?" We responsible types go on to limit our brood size, even though our children (for most of us) are what brings us the greatest happiness in life. So when someone decides to "cheat," it raises our dander.

I roll my eyes and think, "What has this world come to?" But I don't know that I am angry.

                  Why are you angry?

I've been struck by the reaction to this woman, the absolute disgust commentators have expressed. Why? While extreme, how does her case differ from that of unwed mothers in general? Why not the same disgust for the unwed mother of four from South Memphis? Or the bar hopper using her hookups as a way to bring in revenue via the child support of unsuspecting fathers? In this day of reproductive freedom, I thought it had become unseemly, or even chauvenistic or racist to question a woman's motives.

Sure, I find it disturbing, even disgusting. But why is it okay in this instance to express it so openly?
                  Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I can't speak for the public reaction or the media reaction; but I just said why I'm angry -- it's essentially the same reason you were so angry at the treatment of the fetus by the abortion doc in Florida. These babies did NOT deserve to be treated this way, and whatever injuries they've incurred were not the result of nature -- they were the result of a deliberate decision on the part of two rather selfish adults. That is just sickening. Truly.

You make a valid point. If your anger stems from the risk for the babies, in being born premature, and if multiples are almost always premature, then I think it is fair to be bothered by that.

But if the concern is about whether or not begging is appropriate, or if this was irresponsible because of brood size, then, for myself, I tend to think those factors should not concern me.

It's probably better that you look at it that way, since you'll likely be supporting this family for a very long time.

I think I am mostly angry at the doctor. How could he not tell this woman was just really desperate for love? Irresponsible. And as Babs said, now these innocent babies have to deal with the results.
