I've fought turning on the air conditioning today. We had the attic fan running at 9AM, but I will admit that the AC in the car on the way home from church felt awesome. It was so cold here recently that the concrete pad in my carport is absolutely drenched in condensation from all of the humidity in the air. Since it's polished smooth, it's slipprier than snail snot. It's supposed to cool off quickly on Tuesday night, just in time to fall asleep after Santa comes with the fireplace going watching A Christmas Story on TNT.

This is my least favorite weather. Not hot enough to turn on the AC, especially in the middle of December when it is going to get down to 25 degrees in two days, but muggy as all get out, and the middle of the night is about 2 degrees cooler that the middle of the day. I don't sleep as well, the house feels like a swamp, I get out of the shower and my towel is still dry from the morning before. I'd rather it be 30 degrees or 90 degrees, rather than this.

You know what they say about the Bootheel of Missouri? If they took it from Missouri and gave it to Arkansas, both states would get significantly smarter...

Typically, no. There are parts of Missouri that could be called Southern though (in culture and accent), so Missouri, like many of the border states, can be tough to classify.

I agree. Yesterday was amazing. I played softball at 6:30, which on a normal August 14th would mean non-stop sweating. The weather was perfect; felt so good that when I got home I took the dog for a 2 mile walk.

No AC the past two days. We have 20 windows in our home that were open with the ceiling fans. Absolutely gorgeous weather. Again, it has been unbelievably mild and wet this summer. It makes me think we might be in for an ass kicking this winter.

It's a good time to be alive. We took the kids to the park to play, in AUGUST in SOUTH CAROLINA! We look to have two more days of this down here.

No AC the past two days. We have 20 windows in our home that were open with the ceiling fans. Absolutely gorgeous weather. Again, it has been unbelievably mild and wet this summer. It makes me think we might be in for an ass kicking this winter.

Yo, Clark, Surfah, UtahDan, Ocean, and anyone else out there, was today not the most fabulous August day you've ever experienced in the South? I've got the damned attic fan on because there's no humidity and it's in the low 70's outside.

I hope there's not some Manichean opposite headed our way, but for now, I'm going to revel in the amazingness of our luck.

My inlaws live in So Missouri (Springfield) and during our visits I would say it's been a mixed bag. Without knowing whether or not any/some/most of those with which I interacted were transplants, in my anecdotal experience, I would say this region leaned southern.

(Of course, this could also because I'm from Utah/Minnesota and despite many trips to the Deep South I not an expert on what makes an individual or a region more southern than another)
