Given that it doesn't matter who I vote for in Utah, I always vote for the strongest non Republican/Democrat party. I am thinking that it is Gary Johnson this year.

Let's also include primaries. Will someone please admit they voted for John Edwards in the primaries?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

        Let's see:

        '84 Reagan
        '88 Bush
        '92 Bush
        '96 Dole
        '00 Bush
        '04 Bush
        '08 McCain
        '12 Romney

I did not, though I don't know if my primary vote that year was all that much better. In a spectacularly weak field, I voted for Joe Lieberman in 2004 over Edwards, Kerry, Dean, Kucinch, Clark, and Sharpton (gee, I wonder why the Dems didn't win that year).

I am also probably the only one here to have voted for Paul Tsongas in a Presidential primary, in my first presidential election. I actually still like that one. Paul was a good guy.

I would have, but both Edwards and Kucinich backed out before I could.

I voted for Perot in 92.

It was the first election I could vote in, I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Having lived since '75 in either Utah or Davis County I haven't felt the need to vote. My candidates win easily.

However, in 1980 I made sure I got out and voted for Reagan. It was personal.

Same thing this year. Registered and getting out to vote for Romney.

If Frank sends me the list of "eagle forum" candidates running in my district though, I will be sure to vote for the other guy/gal while I am there.

                    92-Clinton
                    96-Clinton
                    00-Gore
                    04-Kerry
                    08-Barr
                    12-Romney

I could barely bring myself to vote for Gore-Kerry, but Bush 2.0 was just an abysmal option.

Then Obama/McCain happened. I voted Libertarian as a protest vote. Hillary-Romney would have been a far better election and likely resulted in a far more effective leader.

I saw a Gore Vidal quote this morning in a magazine that I liked, despite its author: "Democracy makes you think you have a choice between Painkiller A and Painkiller B but they're both really just aspirin."

I completely agree. Both parties chose perhaps the worst possible candidates last time around.

No, that would be John Edwards and Mike Huckabee.
