Disliking the philosophy makes sense. You're assuming I acknowledged Bernie's character because I agree with him.

But I don't think Bernie a bad actor. I think you can be a good person regardless of political persuasion (with the accepting of fascists and communists). I think Mitt Romney is a good person. I always thought John McCain was one. Even though I've been somewhat disappointed Spencer Cox is a good human. I think George W would be a great neighbor and would be fun to hang out with.

I think Bill Clinton was slimy and self-serving. Eric Adams is a corrupt grifter. I think Hasan Piker (who is leading the DSA movement) is a complete asshole and power hungry.

I've stayed of nuked almost all social media. I need to reactivate Facebook and download some pics and delete it altogether. Honestly the though going back on there and getting bombarded with rage bait causes me anxiety

What is the context of those conversations. I don't think all liberals think any contrasting view is evil. But if you read a news article about say, immigration like the Haitian kid who just killed himself who was in the US under legal status when he came here that recently was yanked from him by the whim of the current administration, and read some of the comments, you'll see some maga folks basically cheering it on. It's hard for me as a moderate independent to not see the cheering on of suicide because of politics to not seem kind of evil. So it's not like there aren't some viewpoints out there that you would think most reasonable and good people would find pretty disturbing or even repugnant.

My grand unifying theory: there's only one entity that wants (a) the US to lag in data centers and AI, (b) to blow up NATO, (c) to prop up Putin/Kim, etc., (d) for America to adopt an isolationist philosphy, (e) to increase the cost of trade with the US.
