It is interesting. Harris isn't wrong though, and I'm sure Adams is all about criticizing any democrat he has chance to.

You almost always go after the messenger instead of the message.

If you put out a $25M bounty on a person, what exactly do you want to see happen?

You've derided plenty of accounts who have been retweeted here.

You can't think of a bounty leading to a different outcome than the American military going in and abducting the leader and taking over the country? Like maybe trying to resolve this in a way that relied on Venezuelans and law enforcement?

No doubt. But he upped it again to over $50 million.

Yeah, I can think of various scenarios, most of which don't seem materially different. And it is naive to expect "Venezuelans and law enforcement" to do the job. Once you establish that a guy is bad enough to deserve a $25M bounty on his head, it seems awfully disingenuous to critique a surgical strike to take him out with zero side casualties.

Unless you care about a little document called The Constitution of the United States. Or an organization called The United Nations.

Constitutional laureate scholar Mike Lee said Trumps actions were okie dokie per the constitution so I think we are good here.

Was the $25 million bounty supported by the US Constitution and international norms?

Like Noriega, Mr. Maduro faces federal drug-trafficking charges. Like Noriega, he was captured through military operations conducted without congressional authorization. Like Noriega, he’ll surely argue head-of-state immunity and unlawful seizure. But unless the courts are willing to upend clear precedent, none of these defenses will save him.

Do you realize the criticism relates not to the precision of the strike (I haven't read there weren't collateral causalities. That would be good), but another foreign intervention that wasn't necessary and will involve Trump taking control of a sovereign nation. I think everyone on this board knows Madero is awful.

I'm not a constitutional scholar, International law expert, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. But I'm guessing the Constitution and UN Charter don't specifically address the ability to place monetary rewards on foreign nationals. At least not as specifically as they do to declare war or exercise military strikes on other countries when not in self defense.

BTW, you said something earlier about zero side casualties. What did you mean by that? Reports of 40-80 security personnel and some civilian deaths are being reported. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c5yqyg...30685aecb#post

I don't really know whether or not this was a good move or not. Most of the responses here are predictable. Not necessarily wrong, but predictable.

But that said, holy shit. What an incredible operation by the joint forces of the mighty American military-intelligence-industrial complex. Jaw dropping in it's complexity, lethality, precision, and audacity. They bypassed Venezuala's Chinese-sourced air defense systems. While a Chinese delegation was on the ground! Total failure of Chinese intelligence and technology on the global stage.

Time will tell if it was the right move. I hope it was. If it was the right move, then I can't imagine a better way to execute.
