Trump has proposed this. It appears some Canadians are intrigued with the idea.

Btw, I had no idea Canada only has 41 million people. That is like California. It really could be a state.

    Please, no.

In general, when comparing Canada to the US, use the 10% rule. ~10% population, ~10% economy. Just not land mass.

Canada's national debt is roughly $1.4 Trillion, 42% of its GDP. The US's national debt is around $36 Trillion, around 125% of GDP. Sounds like a nice deal for the U.S. Or maybe this is similar to when an Asian client had me merge two failing companies of his--he said, "Two boats sinking, tie together, both float!"

O’’Leary Is a major MAGA Trump jock-sniffer. Don’t trust his opinions on behalf of half of all Canadians.

But that tweet is coming from Collin Rugg!
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I am in favor of this plan just for the impact on NWC.

One of my business school profs used to talk about the 10% thing. He liked to call Canada "America's Tithe". I am not sure if Canadians found that more or less offensive than "America's Hat".

Say what you want about Trump, and I am certainly not a fan, but when was the last time a President came in with an idea like "Hey, let's more than double our land mass!"

Another positive, other than NWC's angst: All of that empty land mass may turn out to be very useful after a few more decades of global warming.

Yeah after giving up my partnership and my higher salary in the US partly due to a protest vote only to be annexed later would be oh so funny.

We have to start this thread somewhere.

If we can officially call it "Gay North Dakota", I am all in.

                        I'd laugh.

By the way, I know living in the PNW I'm blessed with an embarrassment of riches. I wouldn't move away from here solely because of Trump. But this sunset on the island did its part to seal the deal:

I don't need a bunch of Americans flocking up to the 51st state and ruin this view for me.

I have no problem with it. It's a most appropriate source for such a "waste of time" idea. And "Mr. Dumbderful" is the appropriate interlocutor.
