My axe is well sharpened right now and it is time to use it.

I have no dog in this fight and ultimately I don't really care what the LDS church does with this.

I would wonder what type of message it would send if Tim Ballard remains in full fellowship with the church if all this proves true, but ultimately don't really care.

Time to get back to grinding the axe.

    • Unless he's convicted of a felony or one of his fake OUR wives convinces an ecclesiastical authority of sexual impropriety, would the church ex him?

Don't get me wrong, I want him ex'd. But I have very selfish reasons. My mom is still holding out hope the allegations are not true, despite me showing her the church statement and the ksl article. She dangerously verging into the 'dark evil forces are conspiring against Ballard' territory

Maybe the new des news article will help her...

Based on the disavowal, I almost expect him to be ex'ed for what he's done.

Maybe I'm biased but I don't think so. I don't think he ought to be ex'd for his grift and insinuations. If the shit about Nephi and using Elder Ballard's pull to get himself laid is ever confirmed, that would do it, I think. Especially the part about Nephi- that just screams weirdo vibes that the Church ought to keep at arms length.

              Absolutely!

In fairness, if he's claiming Elder Ballard is approving things that Elder Ballard has not approved, it seems reasonable that the church would mete out official discipline.

Since the CoJCoLDS rarely comments on discipline matters, Tim could already be in the discipline process and he's just counting on the Church not speaking up about it.

there is probably some truth to that. TB might not be the best example, however

What do you mean? It's a perfect example.

I am not saying there isn't a case for TB being exed, I am saying that people's perceptions about the appropriateness of a church excommunicating people changes significantly depending on context.

Well, so far the church has issued the harshest public rebuke of a member of the church that I can recall.

You would know a lot better than me if there has been harsher public rebukes. I can't think of anything more harsh, and you have pieces of shit out there like Kate Kelly and John Dehlin who haven't been rebuked worse. Of course, Ballard might actually be worse than those 2, which is saying a lot.

Sure, I'm referring more to his insisting (after the harsh public rebuke) that his bishop and stake president think he's great and that, as far as he knows, he's a member in good standing.

I know a lot of people that saw and loved the sound of freedom movie and I haven’t seen anyone of my friends defending TB. I guess I live in a different world than other on this site.
I just think a lot of the people that I know that loved the movie aren't aware of the accusations against TB. While I had a dozen or more friends post their love for TSOF movie, I haven't seen a single mention of the VICE news pieces on social media. Maybe there are a bunch of people in denial, or perhaps claiming "Fake News", but I think it's more a lack of exposure than anything. If you don't following VICE on twitter or frequent slightly edgy BYU message boards, you may have no idea what has been uncovered this week.

                            Yep. I.e. low information people.
