I just read this article regarding a list made by Utah citizens. The list purports to identify "illegal aliens" and has 1300 names on it. I am increasingly surprised and concerned by the anti-illegal immigration groups out there and the extent they are going to. There is no way this can end well. The ignorance and misinformation has reached torrential levels and both sides have lost their damn minds. Does anyone see this conflict ending without some major confrontation and change?
I can't believe passions are getting so high ...

It is my hope this was done by some one or few persons, not a anti-illegal immigration group. Except for the minute man guy, the people who are trying to do something about illegal immigration spoke responsibly about this list.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostI just read this article regarding a list made by Utah citizens. I hope they catch who did it and if they put out information they shouldn't have, I hope they get the full weight of the law thrown against them. Of course maybe their defense will be whatever law they broke was one they chose not to obey because it is an unjust law.

I agree that this is going to far, but it is the inevitable byproduct of federal, state and local governments doing completely nothing. Undoubtedly, the economic environment is exacerbating the problem.

Sometimes the something you do is nothing. I get regular email forwards from a relative of mine who is very conservative politically. His email forwards have become disturbing. 3/4 are related to illegal immigration and various types of quasi-vigilante justice which can combat it. He used to forward one email a month on illegal immigration and now I get one a day from him. Illegal immigration and citizens combatting the "problem" are more common in his email forwards than rants on taxes or Obama. That's frightening.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI agree that this is going to far, but it is the inevitable byproduct of federal, state and local governments doing completely nothing. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's intellectually very easy to understand why some subset of the population is very upset when the government refuses to enforce something that has a very tangible effect on our society.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostSometimes the something you do is nothing. I didn't get the vibe that you were agreeing with it. I'm just pointing out that our government has chosen to do nothing regarding the majority of immigration cases because it is better for our economy if they do nothing about those cases. I think there is a mistaken belief that the government's position is simple and transparent on this item.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI'm not saying I agree with it, but it's intellectually very easy to understand why some subset of the population is very upset when the government refuses to enforce something that has a very tangible effect on our society.

I have no facts or studies to dispute your claim, except for a gut feelings. Do you have any facts or studies to back up your claim.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostI'm just pointing out that our government has chosen to do nothing regarding the majority of immigration cases because it is better for our economy if they do nothing about those cases.

I think that if the LDS church apologized for racism in the Book of Mormon against native Americans, and for racist teachings and practices generally, including a full and forthright explanation of the error of its ways, it would help. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

In developed nations, birth rates drop and population becomes flat. This puts huge strain on the economy as there is no influx of workers and there is more drain on the economy supporting old people's retirement and medical costs.
USA has avoided this path that every other developed nation has suffered from because of two reasons 1) birth rates haven't dropped as much but more importantly 2) immigration primarily illegal Hispanic immigration.

Illegal workers do little to nothing to finance those social programs. In fact, there's a good chance they are a net loss proposition.Originally posted by jay santos View PostIn developed nations, birth rates drop and population becomes flat. The best thing about the 'illegal immigration' problem is that it is already too late, and all of the conservative histrionics guarantee that a population that was once politically on the fence will now vote Democrat for at least 1.5 generations. Every time I read about these little republicans' antics I just chuckle and silently thank them for the 1.5 generations of guaranteed liberal voters.

Maybe that will be great. Can you point to a country that has adopted your liberal agenda viewpoint on things so I can see how great it is going to be. You can't use California because that isn't a Country and they have the USA to bail them out.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostThe best thing about the 'illegal immigration' problem is that it is already too late, and all of the conservative histrionics guarantee that a population that was once politically on the fence will now vote Democrat for at least 1.5 generations. Sorry, I don't understand your question. There are countries that are more liberal than the US, that have equivalent or greater personal freedom, that have better economic outlooks, if that is what you talking about. Canada comes to mind as one example.Originally posted by byu71 View PostMaybe that will be great.
