  • Wormholes and Backward(s) Causation

This is a link to a video wherein GOP Party Chair Michael Steele calls Afghanistan "a war of Obama's choosing" and then goes on to basically use the Princess Bride 'land war in Asia' theory to attack the "President's war." You have to listen carefully, but you can hear his incorrect assessment of our involvement in Afghanistan.

Surely the Republicans can find someone more qualified to lead than this inept man.

Calls from within the party for his resignation, although occurring on and off over the past few years, have stepped up recently:

Ummm... Obama claimed the war in Afghanistan as the only one that matters during the campaign. In his "Nobel Peace Prize" acceptance speech <snort!> The One invoked "just war" theory with regards to Afghanistan.

Nice try, but Obama owns this bad boy...

Obama chose to keep the troops in Afghanistan. He also chose to keep the troops in Iraq. Both are wars of his choosing.

He has made that choice because it is the only pragmatic course in such a shitty situation. I understand Wolfowitz, et al., apologetics in some cases, but saying that Iraq/Afghanistan are results of B.O.'s policies is stupid.

Totally agree. His tenure as GOP chair has been one disaster after another.

Stat, Obama may own it - but that doesn't make it a war of his "choosing."

Steele's entire angle of attack here - if he's even thought about it enough for us to call it that - is wrongheaded. Is he actually going to put forward a coherent Republican case for not being in Afghanistan?

As previously suspected, Steele is out of his depth - race sensitivities (which, if we're going to be honest, we know got him this gig in the first place) have made it difficult to sack his sad ass but that won't protect him much longer.
