well duh, there's nothing sexy about that, unless you're a lesbian of course.

That's not the term I'd use to describe the lesbians I've met.
            Not that, sickos.

Some more analysis here from a Georgetown Law professor:

Today, the Privileges or Immunities Clause has risen from the grave. Only a plurality was willing to use the Due Process Clause to apply an individual right to the states. The crucial fifth vote was provided by Justice Thomas’ extensive fifty-six-page originalist opinion that rested solely on the Privileges or Immunities Clause. Neither Justice Alito for the plurality, nor Justices Stevens or Breyer in dissent, even attempted to impeach Justice Thomas’ analysis, which now stands uncontradicted in the Supreme Court Reports. Decades of academic research that has lead to a remarkable consensus among constitutional scholars that The Slaughter-House Cases was wrongly decided have now been vindicated. Only a remarkably tepid and barely defended assertion of stare decisis by Justice Alito now stands in the way of a complete restoration of the “lost” Privileges or Immunities Clause at the heart of Section One of the Fourteenth Amendment.
Wow. I haven't even thought about the Slaughter House Cases for oh, about 30 years.

If you can't beat em, wrap em in red tape and charge them.

A new gun ordinance in Chicago that officials say is the strictest of its kind in the country went into effect on Monday......The ordinance permits residents to have only one working gun at a time in their homes and prohibits them from stepping outside.....
                http://www.ksl.com/?nid=157&sid=11409638

Police Superintendent Jody Weis said that those who want guns must be fingerprinted, submit to a background check, pay a $100 application fee and then $15 for each gun they register. Police also said they are initially giving themselves 120 days to process applications.....For example, under the ordinance residents must take and pass a four-hour class and one hour of training at a gun range, and submit affidavits signed by state-approved firearms instructors. Police said they did not yet have the information on the department's website about where people can find instructors, but hoped to have it by the end of the week......Pearson said that with the $100 application fee, $15 registration fee for each weapon and the $125 or more it will cost for the classroom and range training, the ordinance adds up to discrimination against poorer residents.

How is it bullshit? Is it any different than what Utah and many other states do to regulate alcohol consumption?

I think it's bullshit that law abiding citizens have to go through so much red tape in order to exercise their 2nd Amendment right.

I also think Utah's alcohol laws are too prohibitive, but I don't think buying alcohol is a right given by the Constitution, though I'm not a lawyer, so I may be wrong.

The right to bear arms is not a license to bear arms. Nor should it be.

Is the right to free speech a license to practice free speech?

No it's not. If I threaten to kill the President, I'll end up in jail. It's like the old saying that says the right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins. It's always a balancing act. Very few rights are absolute.

I think we agree more than we disagree. I have a problem that law abiding citizens have to jump through so many hoops in order to buy a gun. I know that the reason for this is to prevent some who aren't responsible enough to own a gun or to prevent criminals from owning a gun, but I really doubt that criminals go through the legal process.

And criminals will always be able to get Oxycontin without going through the proper legal channels, but that's not a reason to stop regulating the distribution of it. You do what you can.
