I think P.R. should be a state. I think the people of P.R. are right in trying to keep the current situation. Absent the "no taxation without representation" thing, they have it pretty good.
I understand that they don't pay federal taxes. So the mantra still applies.

Here's the deal, and someone should let Puerto Rico know, nothing is going to happen until aTm moves to the SEC and we see the fallout from that.

I'm just guessing, but I thinks its Conf USA for PR.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm completely against John Oliver on this one. Knowing some of the facts on the subject of his rant, I see how he selectively edits his material. He doesn't lie, just doesn't present a balanced approach.

It's not really his job to be fair and balanced. He just needs to be thought provoking and funny while getting ratings. I am interested in the counter arguments to his funny and interesting rant, so if you would like to illuminate us i would appreciate it.

+1. What is the seedy underbelly of giving people in Guam the right to vote?

just because it's satire doesn't mean there's not an obligation to avoid affirmatively misrepresenting stuff. not saying that happened here, but dismissing bad journalism as entertainment seems weak

I don't know if I really agree with that. There is no obligation for a guy on a once a week political satire show to be fair and balanced. You must hate the Daily Show.

I don't think good, captivating editorial is bad journalism, either. I'm still curious about what outstanding facts are being selectively edited that we should know about.

i don't think they have an obligation to be fair and balanced, but they're performing a news reporting function to a big segment of the population. that imposes some journalistic obligation.

OK, so if he failed his journalistic obligation (whatever that should be in this instance) please share so I have the opportunity to be appropriately outraged.
