I agree with this. There were some of us who were vocal and did not like it at all. But groups had not yet come together. Since then more bailouts, and massive spending has taken place so it has gotten more attention and people are seeing it now...

Because the current administration has shown they are so willing to accomodate.

Because we were having a party. Hell, everyone could buy a house with nothing down and pay later. We all had jobs. Our main concern was not to let the terrorists ruin the party.

We got a rude awakening. There can be a price to pay from run away debt.

We laud the Clinton speculative years because the bubble that collapsed didn't point to maybe an all out depression. This time we had the crap scared out of us.

I actually believe this would serve the GOP well in the long run.

The GOP has lost many of its moderate members over the last few years, that
just may come back to haunt us.

I am with you there. I have been howling for a long time that the social conservatives have been taking over and wrecking the republican party. That is how we ended up with republicans not worrying about fiscal things, they focused on the social issues way too much.

On the other hand, dealing with Obama, I will leave that up to my good buddy PAC. I think he still has faith in him and I will rely on his faith.

In my own view Obama is a charletin. A very, very likeable one, but one just the same. I would be afraid to deal with him unless I was a very liberal thinker.

and yet he bristles when anyone calls him a "socialist" and mocks those that say he is moving us to a "european style" economy. This is why I don't trust the guy. He speaketh with smooth forked tongue. All politicians do, but he does it very well and has the backing of the media.

Let's have the debate. Do we want to move to a more European/Canadian version of government and economy. I am sure some on here can make valid arguments for doing so.

What has Obama done thus far to give the GOP a chance to compromise? The fake little "health care summit" that took place before the vote was nothing more than Obama gathering the politicians together to tell them that they will do what he tells them to do.

It's tough to compromise when the other side shuts you out of everything.

Also, those who heard him say it. So he didn't really keep it a secret.

If you're talking about his redistribution of wealth comment to Joe the plumber, then you are correct. That slipped my mind. If it was about health care, I'll concede that he always talked about it, but he never announced how costly it was really going to be.
