I just enjoyed a news clip on CNN reporting that the first American to meet with Kim Jong Un is.... (not the Secretary of State, someone from the White House or Congress, or a top business exec, etc.) Dennis Rodman. Somehow this seems fitting. At a dinner Kim hosted at the palace, a soundtrack played throughout the entire evening, although it consisted of a single song, the Theme from Dallas. This is better than his dad's fixation on Renee Zellwegger.

"He loves basketball. ... I said Obama loves basketball. Let's start there" as a way to warm up relations between U.S. and North Korea, Rodman told ABC's "This Week."
[...]
"He's a good guy to me," Rodman said, adding, that "as a person to person, he's my friend. I don't condone what he does."

It appears Rodman is just as big of an attention whore as he was while in the NBA. And just as stupid.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostRodman talks about his friend, Kim Jong Un.

My favorite quotes about Dennis Rodman all came from Bob Costas. Enjoy.
If Rodman couldn't rebound, he'd be another freak trying to get his 45 minutes on the 'Ricki Lake Show. What I've always found puzzling is this trumpeting of Rodman as some sort of rebel standing up to authority. It's one thing to stand up to authority based on principle. It's anothing thing to do so mindlessly. And when there are no risks or meaningful consequences to bucking authority, then what does it mean? Each time he does what he does, he's rewarded with the attention he craves. In some ways, Dennis Rodman represents the establishment in the late `90s in a country where money, celebrity and winning are valued above all else."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.

I am guessing KJU is just missing his new friend, Secretary Rodman. We need to send Dennis back."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I disagree. Rodman visited North Korea and now Kim Jong Un is threatening a preemptive nuclear strike against the US. That can't be a coincidence.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI am guessing KJU is just missing his new friend, Secretary Rodman. I actually like Dennis Rodman's trip to NK. They hunger for worldwide approval, in any form. At the same time, the government has succeeded in brainwashing its population and they sincerely think that the US is still at war with them. They still conduct evacuation drills, and they still think that the lights are off and energy rationed because they are in a 60 year war. Let KJU trumpet how much Dennis Rodman likes him; it doesn't cost the US government anything, and normal people, watching the Rodman coverage on TV will think, "hmmm, maybe the war will be over soon, it doesn't sound like the US is super mad if they are letting the Harlem Globetrotters visit." or even, "Is there even a really a war? Maybe our Dear Leader lies to us."

KJU just got real.
Now the country has announced it is cancelling all non-aggression pacts with its southern neighbour, closing its hotline with Seoul, and shutting their shared border point.
North Korea, which has already threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the U.S., has said it will retaliate with 'crushing strikes' if enemies intrude into its territory 'even an inch and fire even a single shell'.
The state's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea, its arm for dealing with cross-border affairs with Seoul, added that it was voiding past nuclear disarmament agreements between North and South Korea.
The announcement was broadcast by North Korea's KCNA state news agency.

So...I was talking to someone the other day who works with a guy who keeps talking about how scary the North Koreans are.
He says that, sure, they haven't been able to make a nuke small enough to fit on one of their missiles, but they do have the missiles. They've sent a monkey into orbit and back. And he says that while they haven't made a small enough nuke, they have been successfully testing EMP's and have one of those small enough to sit atop their missile.
So his theory (not the guy I spoke to, but the guy he works with) is that the N Koreans could send an EMP over, detonate it 80 miles up, and effectively destroy about 60-70% of the US power grid. And what would happen in the US for the next 2-3 months it would take to rebuild that? No food...no water...ineffective communication...communities cut off...authority heading home to protect/care for family...chaos...anarchy...
He keeps telling folks they need to get their year supply of food put together. And that it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a generator.
I know that Kim is a big talker, but I have a hard time imagining him really wanting things to go to war. And an incredibly difficult time thinking that he would ever actually make an attack like that directly on the USA. But it's an interesting theory.
