Yeah, I was being facetious. President Obama never kept his pre-election promise and Nobel-speech-acceptance pledge of closing down the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Perpetrators of the Bush-era torture regime went unpunished during the entirety of his Administration.

Embrace the message that sends Jagland!

“He’s a tough guy,” the president said during a Fox News interview that aired Wednesday. “When you take over a country, a tough country, tough people and you take it over from your father — I don’t care who you are, what you are, how much of an advantage you have — if you can do that at 27 years old, that’s one in 10,000 that could do that. So he’s a very smart guy. He’s a great negotiator, but I think we understand each other.”

    That rationale is laughable.

He got it simply for being elected. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Nobel_Peace_Prize

Nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize closed just 11 days after Obama took office.
Jagland said "We have not given the prize for what may happen in the future. We are awarding Obama for what he has done in the past year. And we are hoping this may contribute a little bit for what he is trying to do," noting that he hoped the award would assist Obama's foreign policy efforts. Jagland said the committee was influenced by a speech Obama gave about Islam in Cairo in June 2009, the president's efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation and climate change, and Obama's support for using established international bodies such as the United Nations to pursue foreign policy goals.[11] The New York Times reported that Jagland shrugged off the question of whether "the committee feared being labeled naïve for accepting a young politician's promises at face value", stating that "no one could deny that 'the international climate' had suddenly improved, and that Mr. Obama was the main reason...'We want to embrace the message that he stands for."[9]

I think they made an error in this article... It should read "Obama Nominated for Nobel Peace Price":

Trump Nominated For Nobel Peace Price... By Norway

The summit in Singapore has made US President Donald Trump "a man of peace," according to two Norwegian parliamentary representatives (from the Frp party), and as NRK reports, they have nominated him for the most gifted award of all of them.

Representatives Christian Tybring-Gjedde (Frp) and Per-Willy Amundsen (Frp) believe it qualifies Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

"What's happening now is historical. A process is underway to ensure world peace in the future. It's a fragile process, but we must of course do what we can to help this process bring good results. I think that we can do by sending a clear signal by giving Trump the peace prize."

Why would those freak'n socialists of Norway nominate Drumpf?

    LOL...

But hey the South Koreans mostly approve of this de-escalation at least compared to Trump’s Twitter provocations that were happening last year. Trump is still an idiot but it could be worse.
whether it could be worse or not is highly speculative and kind of irrelevant since someone else being elected didn't happen. The unknown is unknowable. Republicans right now instead of doing nothing with the idea that it could have been worse, should push back on the idiocy before it wrecks the economy, as his dopey trade ideas eventually will if allowed to push through.

Also, the taking kids away from their parents at the border is shockingly immoral. That needs to stop. I heard Hugh Hewitt say that in an interview this morning. At least he has some morals left even if he's still mostly pro-Trump right now.

Then hours later and completely outside of the actual signed agreement, Trump just casually throws out there that we are going to halt the joint military exercises with S. Korea that have been going on for 70 years. Since then the S. Koreans and our own military have both said the announcement was a surprise. But not surprisingly, the last time the exercises were done Russia issued a statement basically about how much they didn't like it.

So twice in the same week Trump does what makes Putin happy. He completely out of the blue complains that Russia with their economy smaller than Italy's should be at the G7 and then does all he can that week to damage relationships with everyone there. Brilliant.

Trump has business reasons for keeping Putin happy. All major business done in Russia must have Putin's blessing. That's how things work there, and Trump is basically another oligarch who just happens to be American. That's the most logical explanation for his actions around Putin and Russia.

Brilliant. Undeniably Putin loves it.
