The longer this goes on, the more free pub the film will get. I think a post-holiday release would be great timing for a show that was probably going to flounder at the pre-Christmas box office.

I thought they'd ride the buzz all the way to the bank, but when pretty much everyone decided not to show it, I guess that went out the window. I know one of the big concerns was that there would be a spillover impact to other movies at one of the biggest times of year, so maybe when the holidays pass they'll put it back in theaters. But right now they don't even have theaters to place it in if they wanted to.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI'm starting to believe the decision to pull the movie from release is a calculated publicity stunt. If they release it for free, I'll eat my words. But my guess is they ultimately place it back in theaters.

What a dumbass. NK makes movies like that all the time. Nobody cares."Can you imagine the outcry if North Korean released, Get Obama, about the assassination of a sitting president," asks Douglas Thomas, associate professor of communication at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
"It's amazing that this even got green-lit," Carman adds. "Wow, nothing's really changed. This is still a white male, Western-centric view of a small Asian nation."

This is what I read yesterday:Originally posted by Eddie View PostCan we also request no more politically based pseudo-documentaries? Moore's got plenty of money to live on while he figures out what to do for a living next.
I agree with JL - if I was Sony I would be putting this out to the world for free. Youtube, Amazon, Hulu, you name it. Those folks might not want to take it - if they're concerned about getting hacked themselves. And if that's the case, maybe Sony just puts it up on their own site for people to watch and/or download.
On another note - how the hell does a country that doesn't even have electricity for the majority of its citizens, much less a computer in the home for kids to hone hacking skills on and discover who has that innate ability to be good at it, come up with a hacker who can outdo Sony?!? That's crazy.

Dear Sony Hackers: now that u run Hollywood, I'd also like less romantic comedies, fewer Michael Bay movies and no more Transformers.

Sony should put the movie on youtube and every other video sharing site for free. Something to ensure widest distribution possible.
